Most parents tell me that the father spoke late as a child and so maybe it is ok if the child speaks late. It may be something that runs in their families. They wait and think things will improve.

I don’t think this applies to every child, there is no benchmark that every child will have 100 words vocabulary. My boy follows a lot of instructions but he can’t combine two words and he is 24 months.

Thanks for this. My husband was speech delayed as a child. Now my 3 year old son is speech delayed and shows signs of mild autism. His pretend play is nonexistent but he’s a smiley, lovable little guy. I saw so much of my son in these descriptions. No communication at 18 months. Unusual social development becomes apparent early in childhood. Autistic infants show less attention to social stimuli, smile and look at others less often, and respond less to their own name. My son is 2.5 yrs now he didn't speak single word until 18 months from 20th month his vocabulary buit exceptionally that he spoke more than 100 words (not sentences) when he reached 22 months. At 2 yrs his vocab was like 300-400 words and started short sentences. Now, he speaks non-stop 🤣

My child age 3yrs not respond if someone asked have you had your meals today? No answer, she doesn't understand this is a questions and reply but she knows rhymes and ABCD to Z ,1 to 10 and many more but only problem is doesn't understand the question and reply and not formations of sentences but speak with split words, like when she hungry says -- I am hungry inlieu of-- Mom I am hungry give me some food, not formations sentences, kindly advice which types of therapy needs?

My grandson is 15 months old.. All his other development milestones are ok. He has doing every thing with little delay. Now he is taking few steps independently but not confidently. By supporting he walks better. As he is doing every thing late we are feeling that it is ok, he started walking. He is healthy too. But so far he has not opened his mouth and said even two letter words like Dada, mama, tata, atta any time. No blabbering. . He is making sound but not opening his lips to utter a word. His hearing, ability to receive communication seem to be ok. His understanding is good. Identification of objects, is ok. Even if you ask him how lawn mover made sound yesterday ? He will make sound with mouth like turrrr. Etc. His recollection seems to be ok. He identifies fish and makes sound umm from throat. He identifies dog and makes sound umm from throat. For every thing the same sound. His mother tried to keep her face close and showed him how to move lips. Still he never does it. I have seen children who speak late. But I gave not seen children who don't open their mouth to make a small sound. Is speech delay ?

But he is communicating vocally though not very clearly that we can understand every word. He is frustated and cries and screams for every need because he has not learnt how to express his wants. Very unsociable. Almost displays hostile attitude towards every body except his picked loved ones like parents. Does not like anybody trying to get close to him.

@@sarithabuddula9346 madam. I think you are mistaking me to be therapist. However as an elderly person i feel there is nothing to worry about your son. He is just 6 months old. You said he is crying amma. That itself shows that he is capable of making sounds. My suggestion is whether he blabbers or not just keep talking to him. Keep you face close to him while talking so that he will observe your lip moments. His jaws should be strengthened. Ifvyou are feeding him through bottle, change the nipple to nipples which require power sucking ( not easy to suck) thereby his jaws will get stronger. Sticking his tongue out few times in a day also eases tongue moment. I think you have already done his audio checking soon after his birth. Just talk talk talk to him.

Speech Delay(SD) & Autism are two different things. But now days SD kids are put in Autism that is absolutely wrong. Autistic kid has no understanding of words, he is clueless. He has a hard time physically. His behaviors are worry some & repetitive. He has a problem in eating and many more. Genes play important role & boys are mostly affected by it. SD kids start speaking words by 4 or 5 yr of his age.

@@awetisminsights I have met various doctors but some says you have to go to psychiatric and some said may be he has listening problem and one of the doctor has done his nose X-ray and he told that baby has extended skin in nose which makes him little angry by nature it can cause breathing problem and listening too and may be this is the reason he is not speaking. So everyone has their own opinions because of that we are stressed what to do, where to go and whom to contact.

Check Occupational therapy and you can start that locally. The therapist can guide you on what need to be done for the child .

Younger kids do well with therapies. They get better as you do early intervention with them by providing therapies.

Hi even my son was speech delay ..he's 4 10 months we have gone through therapies bt didn't find much difference..last year due to pandemic we went to his grandparents house that worked a lot now he's speaking well..I can't that he can speak well and fast like other children bt 70 per he knows his mother tongue ,now he is learning little English..apart from that we are suffering from behaviour issues?? Hope it should go down ..said ADHD...hope ur son should talk too...I know the pain 😭 god bless ur child

Mama mara bata 3.5 years ka hai aur vo premature baby hai to as you told about milestone my child has shown some of it at that point you mentioned but he responded to me and he can listen the command which I give him and if don't want do than he replys that no but my problem is that whenever I or anyone ask him his name or say who are you he just repeat the same sentence back but not able to give answer

Bharti ji, 1st what is fitz? 2nd My child is 2 yr and 5 month old but he is unable to make sentence like 2 words together,he understands many things like bring the shoes,open the tv, etc but not judge properly he says papa many one's, speak single words many ones but he is late in learning because my daughter was able to make sentence in 25 months ... Etc he also repeat what I teach him he say counting from 1to 10 A to z not so proper but still less communicate not like children of his age he also push other kid's like to play alone or watch TV please suggest or guide something really tensed 😔😔

It seems like speech delay not autism as he is able to understand your speech. I would suggest to keep him away (100%) from screens like TV or mobile. TV and mobiles are also changing behaviour of kids. He will cry for few days but you need to involve him into some activities like assembling games, puzzles etc which you can purchase online. You have to sacrifice your own TV serials also if any. Also if possible consult with child development centre in Delhi. You can take video consultation of Ganga Ram hospital CDC online & consult with them without visiting hospital during COVID. I did it for my son, though he has mild autism detected in screening. That's why i can say that your son seems out of this area. No worry. He is fine & will be fine if you personally start involving with him for few months.
