Zomato is making losses but promises to return to profits soon. We analyse the factors and changes that Zomato would need to encounter to become a 10x stock from here.
Meituan is China’s largest food delivery chain with a 67% market share. It has moved into Hotel booking, cycle ride sharing, movie ticketing, financing and even flight booking. It uses its client’s data to cross sell. India has a 2500$ per capita income and is also a two player market unlike China which is a 10,000$ per capita market. Additionally there are cultural issues on ordering out between India and China.

If I have to order any dish worth 180, order value goes beyond 260-280. Offer apply kar ke 180 ka khana 225 me order karna padta hai thanda khana. Usase achha khud hi bahar ja ke jo chahe woh khalo garam.

Sir, China mei bahar se khana(food) khana(eat) zada sasta padta hai. Economies of scale. Bahar, restaurant supply stores alag hote hain jo wholesale daam mei bechte hain. Mein bhi ek aise hi restaurant supply store mei jake Haldiram ke 4kg ka gulab jamun can khareed ke lai.

Zomato needs to increase its AOV + zomato needs to increase its volume meanwhile zomato needs to keep its delivery charges reasonable and zomato take rates should be reasonable this id the combination where restaurant, customer , zomato will win, zomato is already profitable in its premium customer segment ( who order more than 2 times in a week ) where aov are in b/w 500-1000 but volumes are low bcoz there aren't many indians whose ppp is higher and zomato is making loss in lower AOV segment

While ordering we give top of RS. 50 and added to the bill but later on delivery boy told us that do not include top in the bill as they are not getting the same give in cash. Hence we decided not to order online food. Such type of dishonest will hamper the companies goodwill as well as profit of the company. Company should be loyal towards the root level employee which is rare in India.
