Ep 60: 3 Guys, 1 Hammer - The Dnepropetrovsk Maniacs

Webster's Dictionary defines a 'Maniac' as "a person who behaves in a wildly foolish, reckless, or dangerous manner." And boy, do we have a story about some maniacs for you! In 2007, in Ukraine's 4th largest city, three young men went on the fastest murder spree we've ever heard of. Apparently, it's possible to see one of their murders that they filmed, "Three Guys - One Hammer," but we haven't seen it and don't recommend it. (Also, incidentally, Dnepropetrovsk is now called Dnipro, and you should read its Wikipedia page because it's fascinating. There's Catherine the Great, Many Occupations, two train bombs in 2007, nuclear weapon stockpiles, and in 2023 it's been bombed by Russia).

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this little gem of a channel during my true crime binge. I'm not super clued up on KZbin algorithms but this is the first video I've been recommended from a fellow smallish KZbin channel. After posting my first short film and seeing the views slightly rise but so few likes or comments I was so discouraged. But after finding your channel I'm starting to realise that the fun is in the making of the content and the joy and encouragement on even one like. I'm definitely going to think about posting more of my original short films or even just stories (because DAYMN it takes a lot of time and effort to write, direct, act and edit short films and I am way too poor for that right now 😂) Also, to engage a bit with this video, I believe the name "3 guys, 1 hammer" came about as a reference to the video title "2 girls 1 cup". I remember when just the title was a thing and everyone warned you not to google or watch 2 girls 1 cup. I am eternally grateful that I have never and will never watch it. To put it as nicely as I can, it is a prn film involving 1 cup, 2 girls and their excrements. I think they named their video "3 guys 1 hammer" to emphasize the shock value. And personally, on this particular case, I don't think it could have been prevented by everyone being nicer to them. I personally think that what could have helped was if they had put their interests in anatomy to more socially beneficial ways. But ultimately, some people purely have no regard to human or animal life or recognize the gravity of their real life actions.
