Hey, thank you so much for these extremely interesting and informative videos!! You're amazing at explaining conveying your own interest in the subject :)) just one question is there a reason why you are always using the "would have" form? I've never heard someone use it that way, just curious

Two questions 1) what was "the enterprise of the Indies 2) what impact did the arrival of the European have on the Amerindians population of the new world Love your videos 😊💞
@IslandUplift2 жыл бұрын
Hey good day. Thank you so much❤️👍🏽 For the first question, the Enterprise of the Indies refers to Columbus' theory of reaching the East Indies, India and China by sailing West across the Atlantic Ocean. You can check out episodes 5 and 6 for more insight into this. For the second question, those points are actually discussed in this particular video (episode 7). If you browse through it you will see some of the effects that were highlighted and discussed, in particular the introduction of diseases.

I thought syphilis came from the Americas? I remember hearing a joke once that it was gods punishment to the Spaniards for the rapacious conduct in the new world. I'm genuinely curious now and if you have anything else to say on the matter it would be much appreciated. P.S. Love your podcast keep up the good work 👍🏻

Are you saying there were no indigenous people of Europe?
@music9heals6 ай бұрын
I think it’s more the concept that history as a whole is mostly told from a Eurocentric/colonizer lens. So whenever “native” people are mentioned it’s a foretelling that said land was most likely conquered/colonized by Europeans at a certain point in history. With that in mind, who conquered Europe? I would honestly say, if we heard history from the lens of Norse Vikings (what have you) they would call Europeans- Anglos or their version of native
@music9heals6 ай бұрын
But also, I would say the Hostory of Ireland is a good example for your query

As a protestant you are unaware that the Spanish project in the West Indies was very different to that of the English 120 after the catholic conquista started. You have omitted completely the fusion between the Spaniards and the taíno forming the very first christian families in the Caribbean. You have opted for the cynic view that all the taino women were raped and exploited. You have omitted that most taínos were guaitiaos or allied to the Spaniards because they were all christians. That is then only reason why the Spaniards for example won the taíno wars in Higüey between 1502-06. The idea that animales ruined the taíno agriculture is ridiculous. Food was very important for everyone in the islands and the idea that the European animals ate the conucos is simply wrong. With the spaniards food production in the islands was higher than ever in the first 2 decades of the 16th century. You talk about genocide in this episode when you failed to talk about the real genocide of the incas and aztecs in the previous episodes. These people were PAGAN and made open war on the only real religion. Think about that before you repeat protestant propaganda.
