I'm a Boomer age fan who is tired of hearing Boomers badmouth younger generations for being insincere and disconnected. The depth and sincerity and emotional connection in the song, behind the lyrics, and among everyone who hears/identifies with the message is the Real Deal. Thanks again Gracie and Lawrence for being You🙏 Regards, Russ

I think the issue with the badmouthing Boomers is they seem to only be listening to one or two radio stations. So they are only subjected to the shallow pop hits. There is more amazing music available now than ever before, they just don’t know where to find it. The 80’s are a good example of this. Listening to top 40 from any year in that decade, and you’re not going to find much substance in the music. But that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a lot of amazing music coming out. Sometimes ya just gotta dig to find the good stuff.

I’m not certain there is a widespread problem with “badmouthing boomers.” Just like any group of people who share common life experiences, the most vocal faction of that group on the internet tends to be negative-minded. For whatever reason(s) it takes more effort for the positive-minded folks to enter the fray. It just seems to be a worldwide “web thing.” I’m a boomer, and I listen to all kinds of music from multiple generations. I have lots of boomer friends who are the same way. I don’t want to waste my time arguing the point with those who choose to vocalize their limited perspective on music. And I enthusiastically echo the positive vibes here for Lawrence. Exceptional talent from any generation usually finds an audience that is large enough to be diverse and appreciative. I love me some Lawrence! ❤

This song is how I discovered you guys. My wife and I split up and I was suddenly living in an apartment near the beach seeing my kids half the time. In some ways it was the worse thing that had happened to me. But another weird thing happened, which was that I was happier and healthier. My wife and i weren't right for each other and I felt reborn. It didnt mean I didnt love her though and I mourned our marriage, I would walk the beach and listen to this song most nights. It captures that nuance you just described in this video perfectly. I liked several other more upbeat Lawrence songs before I realized this too was a Lawrence song and therefore the first I had heard and liked. Now you are a favorite band of mine. Love you guys, keep up the great work. Cant wait to see you live

This might sound odd but this was my birds favourite song. He died earlier this year, at 18 years old, and whenever I hear this song it makes me smile thinking of him tilting his head to listen to it.

different take to the original inspo behind the song but this one hits home for me and reminds me of my estranged relationship with my mum. it can be difficult but reading these comments and hearing Gracie explain how the audience reacts to the song makes you realise that you’re not alone. thank you Gracie, and Lawrence, for this beautiful music you create. love from the UK ❤️

As an older fan, I sure enjoy your top tier musicianship, and great performance presence, but the way your songwriting can punch through 20+ years of fading memories and trigger highly specific emotions is an astonishing skill. What a band!

"A part of me will always be in love with you" is such a beautiful line. I've always felt like you give a little bit of yourself to everyone in your life, as do they. We're all just pieces of parts of people that we've exchanged along the way.

I fucking love this song! I lost my partner in a car accident over 10 years ago and this song makes me feel a real happy sad nostalgic love kind of vibe, feeling good about living life to it's fullest doing beautiful things rather than talking about the weather, then Clyde comes in with the reminder to quit moping and keep dancing! Thanks for being the music makers while we dream the dreams!

All who have loved and lost know the melancholy cocktail of "what if" and "if only." This song serves up that cocktail with a whisky chaser. Thanks for sharing your music with us...cheers

I would so immediately buy an album of just instrumentals to accompany the regular ones!! The quiet moments of the doco backed by the beautiful songs I know and love but haven't gotten to hear in this new way were truly wonderful.

I love this song so much! It was my introduction to you guys! My high school choir learned the version of this with the gospel reprise for our spring concert and we ended up falling in love with it. We sang it at every single concert in the spring semester. There was never a dry eye on stage or in the audience. We even had students skipping class to listen to us rehearse this song 😭. Something about this song made us all feel real powerful emotions. Because of you guys, this song will always remind me of high school and makes me miss the amazing times with friends, a breakup of its own I guess. From the middle of Iowa, thank you for creating this song! 🫶🏻

I broke up with my ex of 4 and a half years back in March after she moved back to California from the UK. This song has taken on so much more meaning for me since then I really appreciate how beautifully written and performed it is in all the different versions Thank you Gracie (Clyde and the rest of the band) for writing about such a universal experience

This has become one of my favorite songs of yours and manages to chike me up every time I hear it now. I hear it as a melancholy farewell, a gentle recognition of the end of something that was beautiful and important. And not just about a relationship either, but saying that final goodbye to someone. It's a simple, beautiful, amd meaningful song. Thank you for it.

Okay, absolutely infatuated with this band right now, will see them live in Paris later this year… but that melody line is an interpolation from something else and I can’t remember what. I feel like it’s an Irish folk tune? Or for some reason I get Bryan Adams Robin Hood vibes off it? Has anyone already figured this out?

Rétraction: I’ve spent a ton of time thinking about it and I don’t think it’s an interpolation, I think it just *feels* familiar in the best possible way. Concert in Paris next week! :)
