This was a fun and interesting discussion. Great to hear the similarities and differences between Lego and stamp collecting. I see how much space my daughter’s Harry Potter legos take up and that is one of the reasons why I returned to my childhood hobby of stamp collecting - it fits on a few shelves.

Yeah this is interesting Ryan thanks for bringing me over here. I've collected many things in my life and as a kid didn't really realize I was collecting that much for example lego starwars, yugioh cards pokemon cards, sports cards, marbles, hot wheels, lego bionicles, and when i grew up more I started collecting rocks and coins and paper money a little bit more coins. And now I've found myself wanting to go back and get stuff I always wanted but never got while collecting. But also sometimes find it hard to justify it because ill probably buy it and only be happy or excited very temporarily and instead I could use my money more wisely and get things im more into now like knives for example or just invest into myself and my future.

The only stamp I ever collected was an Elvis Presley one thinking it would be worth money some day. I stuck in a drawer and haven’t seen it in years.😭🤣😂💖

Great show. Handsome Ryan should collect a topic such as his Lego on STAR WARS, HARRY POTTER, stamps which are quite a few. My first collecting bug [at 13 [1970]] was vinyl etc of my favourite artist CONNNIE FRANCIS, which now i celebrate my 50th year 1971-2021. I have over 1000 items of hers and some quite rare items. Due to the fact that i had parcels from overseas [from New Zealand where i lived] i got interested in Philately due to the stamps on the parcels i got. I bet very few philatelists got the philatelic bug from their 1st hobby, as i did. One hobby leads to another ,as we say. I collect England, Greece, New Zealand, Cook Islands, Cyprus.

“Collectors’ High” should be explored as essence behind compulsion to seek out and assemble various tangible objects. LEGOLAND RESORTS exist in Florida and California... Why not a “STAMPLAND RESORT?” It might “bring young people into the hobby.”

One of the biggest reasons that stamps are hard for younger people to collect is that they do not have anyone to teach them the basics. Thus they often feel lost and overwhelmed and get rightly scared that they are going to make a mistake or be taken advantage of and lose their money. Another reasons is that we live in an instant gratification world and stamps are, generally speaking, not an instant gratification hobby.

Another issue is that when collecting Legos, authenticity and condition are rarely in doubt. Collecting stamps does come with certain risks regarding authenticity and condition.

The main point is that all collectibles, including stamps and Legos, are subject to the laws of supply and demand. A collectible with a low supply and a high demand yields a high price. There clearly is greater demand for Legos than for most stamps, which is why they appreciate more quickly. We will see if Legos ever reach the levels of the most expensive stamps such as the Inverted Jenny.

Most stamp dealers became stamp dealers when they retired from their full time jobs and now live off the pension. Many of the stamp dealers who began before retirement are in business as a side job. The number of people in the USA who earn their primary living from stamp collecting is probably in the hundreds.

How does the guy on the right have a KZbin channel and seemingly not understand the concept of a person making KZbin videos for a living? I wasn’t sure if that was the case or he just has such little respect for LEGO collecting as a hobby that it shocked him to find out people actually watch videos on the subject. Yes collecting lego great investment but with lego in two room s plus in storidge. Paying $200 every 4 weeks to hold onto all them sets .lego sets take up room..but so doe s collecting toy figs in boxes an so on...lego could help collecters buy makeing thiner boxe s. LoL the more boxes the more room need for sale stock plus own collection. Dont be bulled outta lego kids .take thoe s words ...its alive . happy days an millions to cume.
