Brilliant mission, nice one. I love your choice of colours. I live on a 22ft cruiser so I envy your space. I'm in volume 4 of my to do list, but each little job makes living aboard more comfortable. Good luck with you restoration. X

I'm catching up with your journey. I painted my lounge fireplace wall with the same After Hours paint and it looks far better on your boat's ceiling. When light from my window hits it the colour varies throughout the day from vivid turquoise to deep blue. Not what I expected. Love your nautical prints, shame for me that the ones I wanted have sold out as would go well with After Hours.

Looks amazing, please treat your doggy to a floatation harness. Those locks can be an awful place for him / her to go in the water. Thanks for the insights into your travels.

The pooch in this video is my friend's dog, Bonnie. She's living life in Wales now. I think if I was to do a lock with Leela, I would keep her inside. She's far too skittish. Dog safety is a huge priority to me.

Hey, man! I cut in with a brush and then rollered the rest. I'm a messy painter so like to get a thick "safe line" before I roller.

Gday from Australia… Congrats on the new boat… I have a question for you… Are all those narrow boats just parked up there by their owners or are a lot of them for sale ???
@EarleWrites2 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris! It's a marina, so a third of people there live on the boats full time and the rest visit their boats for weekends for pleasure cruising. Some people like to keep their boat in the marina for security and for ease of they have to drive to work. Thank you for watching! It means a lot! ❤️

Interesting to see your colour choice. It’s very dark and cavelike. Why not something light and mood lifting? Just a thought. It’s your home so whatever you feel comfortable with. I understand your wanting to live similar to the olden days to keep the history alive, but inside could be different as you have that on the outside as she doesn’t look modernised on the exterior. Good luck for you and furry baby x
@EarleWrites2 жыл бұрын
My mother said the same thing. However, I really enjoy dark gem colours. I like the cosiness of the dark. I also want the inside to feel as authentic as possible with the typical 1920s colours that travellers favoured. I feel like if we denied ourselves of the colours we love on our walls, then that's a sadness in itself. I'm always transported to a different time and place when I step in, and I plan to make it a lot more ornate with gold and the wood will be taken back to a dark walnut. I painted my last boat in light colours and was always disappointed that I hadn't stuck to my guns. Plus, with a mucky dog and towpath life as it is, dark colours hide a lot of my sins. I appreciate the suggestion however. We need to grab food vibes when we can! Big love to you ❤️❤️❤️
@englishrose11222 жыл бұрын
@@EarleWrites of course I fully appreciate what you say and i agree to a certain point its the narrowness of your narrow boat that made me comment. I was an interior designer till 2008 when everything went down in the UK. Now I’m retired and an old git! Luckily I’m told I look younger…..whatever! My photo is about 5 years ago as I’m not into all that selfi rubbish x

Are those colors going to be a bit on the dark side in that small space?
@EarleWrites2 жыл бұрын
Not for me. I love seeing the light bounce around on the walls and the mirrors. Grey and beige have no place on Maggie. Think dark colours should be embraced. 🖤
@ruthlong68762 жыл бұрын
Well, your boat, and if you like the colors then who am I to say, maybe I'm just a girly girl and like that pink color better, but I'm sure I'll see your vision when you are finished, your the artist, but anyway, congratulations and good luck with her, she's a beautiful boat 👍🙏❤️😎🛥️with love from Upland Pennsylvania USA

Why a 1920's narrowboat, I am not sure, it will have many vintage attributes, which can be a plus or a minus. Vintage is emotionally a good thing, providing the Hull is sound, the engine is maintainable, the Inboard tanks are without any issues. The wiring will eventually have to be replaced and updated, all hosing and piping will need to be replaced and upgraded. The addition of Solar Will bring a degree of Power Stability, Batteries are always a source of potential problems. Live on it, enjoy every moment, while being aware there will be a lot of upkeep you will be required to perform on a regular and ongoing basis, this is just part of Marine Life.Take One Day At A Time, learn to enjoy even the maintenance as it will add to your ability to afford living onboard. If you are willing to put in the time and effort and take things slow (canal speed) you will learn to slow down and enjoy each and every day. Cheers
