It depends on the brands and the type of fishing you are intending to do. For example a set up for shore castinf would cost less than a set for kayak/inshore fishing. Which type of fishing you intend to do??

Depends what you are buying. Cheap Chinese stuff which will last less than a year or quality gear such as shimanos or diawas that last a very long time. a good quality reel will cost no less than R 10k but will last a long time with good care and maintenance . Same for quality rods. Just bought a travelling rod. A daiwa super kenzaki. A truly superb piece of kit and no regrets paying an arm and a leg for it. You see cheap reels have very bad quality ball bearings which rust in no time when exposed to salt water. Good quality on the other hand have stainless steel bearings that are shielded. Also the drag material on good reels is usually carbontex. If you can afford it buy quality or otherwise save up and buy later. It is cheaper in the long run.
