Love your video. But missing infos like costs of docks, max draft, max beam. books and charts to buy...
@reidarandersen24 Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Organized marinas varies in price, docking alongside in towns were often free. By the locks always free. Depth in general 1.80 (ex C. du Medi) beam varies but for our route never an issue. As for charts/guides Waterway Guide and others are good enough. Our guide was 15 years old, not a good idea.

Are there tolls for the gates on these roads? I see doors in some places, I think they are for the water level.
@reidarandersen245 ай бұрын
I guess you mean the lock- gates. There is a fixed fee for transition of the rivers/canals. You pick your time and pay (France) and they keep track of you (cameras). On our route we were approached by a lock-keeper only to be handed out a remote-control for a certain remote distance. When done we were instructed to drop it in the "mail-box" at the end. You're on your own - they never gave us any problems.

Our voyage went through waterways with the Freycinet standard ( 38,50 x 5,05 x 1,80 mtr) . There are a few exceptions to this standard either on depth or width.

Beautifull! Did you have to pay for each lock!!

Are you on the canal still ?? I'm looking for some advice as I'm thinking off doing it ??

Great movie. I was thinking doing the same in the near future. Taking the mast down and motor through the canals. But I abandon this idea because of my draft. So my question is what is the draft of your boat?
@reidarandersen247 жыл бұрын
Draft was approx 1.90 and too deep, we scraped and hit bottom 20-25 times, flood and rain saved us. 1.80 i max, this was a gamble !

Thanks for your reply. That is fantastic news! And again I loved your movie. Our draft is 1.75 so I see myself already floating from the Netherlands where I live to the Black sea :-)

If you don't mind us asking, was it expensive to have the mast and rigging put back on at the other end? We are saying up options of the French canals or going around Biscay to get to the Med from the UK
@reidarandersen246 жыл бұрын
Approx 8-900 euros, which included storage/marina/uprigging. Bobs Warf in Travemunde is a great place, they have professionals on everything you need done.

Thats great thank you very much, this info helps greatly.

You pay for the time you expect to be within France, we chose 2 weeks, approx 200 euros.
