Congratulations on the new generator. Seeing your happiness makes me happy. It looks like a very clean, nice installation. And bonus, you have enough extra space under the floorboards now to smuggle contraband. 😆

Very impressive and 100% fact about being a boat owner. You must learn your boat and be able to repair. It’s also a wonderful feeling of accomplishment to gain all of this knowledge. Love watching your channel and hope many more people start to subscribe and view. I have personally shared your channel with everyone I know here in Rochester, New York is something to watch Many cheers

So happy for y’all to get a new generator and the smile on his face says it all. Scary moments though I was cringing watching this as we also have an Irwin but Olivia is a 52 and taking the generator up the side of Blue Pearl and then lowering it down to the engine room. checked on sailing content ,your channel came up and I looked at a few episodes starting from purchasing your beautiful boat. The size/accommodation on your boat and your experiences with RV and Sailing ,suggest a mutual benefit dynamic of extra income and sharing expertise with well selected ,paying guests on your boat ,who are interested to maybe go for similar adventures and could benefit from your experiences ,getting a taste and learning physical and mental skills for similar lifestyles .

Hi from S/V Fantasia, I’ve been following you with curious interest, since you are living the dream that I’ve always threatened to take. You have some great”sea stories” and obvious “learned wisdom”. Your comment regarding needing to know your boat and its systems is something everyone needs to know and there’s no better way than baptism by immersion as you are finding out. As I mentioned to you in an earlier comment my sailing season here on the Great Lakes was cut short after I suffered an ITB injury jumping off my scaffold when waxing the hull. I’ve been dong that since I purchased the boat new in 90. Even an old dog can learn new tricks. One observation; are the main original output cables from the generator sized large enough for the higher generator output? Now relax and wait for the next repair, I just found mine, a broken T stop on my sail track, much easier fix than what you just experienced. Here’s something you won’t be addressing, I’m getting ready for haul out in a 3 weeks, our season is all but over. Enjoy!
@Charlie-Oooooo4 ай бұрын
Good thinking. But maybe as long as the total system load on the generator is the same (e.g., 3 air cons, water maker, lights, electric systems, etc.) hasn't changed, only the same max current will be pulled from the genny and flow thru the wires. Of course always good to confirm.👍
@SailingBluePearl4 ай бұрын
Hello SV Fantasia! Great question! The old gennie was a 20 kw and this new one is nearly half its size at 11 kw. So we weren't concerned about using the original cable. Best of luck on your haul out!🙌

@SailingBluePearl congrats on the new genny . I felt weight off ,y old shoulders lol when the old beast got removed! On a slighty serious note (only saying this as I've heard and seen it happen before in the construction industry when posted stuff online) Be mindful of saying you didn't prime it first prior to starting as they could turn around and void the warranty If anything was to go wrong with it down the track. Maybe edit that bit out or maybe Im parranoid lol but just want the best for you guys!
@SailingBluePearl4 ай бұрын
@@oliverhill84 Thank you for your concern! I believe we're okay as it did prime on that first start -up, we just don't think it primed enough. Plus It had already been started before it arrived here. We really do appreciate your advice tho!

One observation never use hose clips with cut through slots saves a lot of future leaks if you use the solid clips. Mat on the Will Fix That channel in Key West says that every time he is putting on hose clips. Well done on that installation you made it look easy

That is super awesome! We have the same boat and I have been thinking about replacing our old generator. After installing and running all the equipment on your boat, are you still happy with 11kw? I had been thinking about 9kw.
@SailingBluePearl4 ай бұрын
Hey fellow Irwin sailor! Great boats, aren't they!?🥰 You will probably be okay with a 9kw. Honestly it just felt odd going from a 20 down to a 9, so we opted for 11kw. Let us know what you decide and how it works out for you!
@Charlie-Oooooo4 ай бұрын
Nice work guys! What will you do with all the free time from not havin to fix your genny every week?😂 BTW, will you put a $5 carbon monoxide alarm in the compartment or at least in the galley (if you don’t have one already), especially since the genny exhaust pipe is now flowing into a smaller pipe to go outboard? There might be some extra back pressure on that adapter connector you made. Best regards.
@SailingBluePearl4 ай бұрын
Thanks much!!😁 Even though the inside area of the pipe is a little bit smaller, we're not concerned about it considering the old gennie (40 horse) is much larger than the new one (19.6). We do however, have a carbon monoxide alarm on our shopping list!🙌
