I just did a little Cardinal last night using Apoxie Sculp, beads and red stained glass. Im so excited at how he turned out! I wish I could send you a picture. I work at a stained glass shop (in Janesville, WI) and I’m getting more mosaic classes going. You’re my inspiration. I just did a class on mosaic pendants and people loved it. Thank you for sharing your talent.😊

Lol, I can so relate to the problem of finishing a project in cold weather. Living in the Canadian Rockies, this is my biggest problem in my artwork. It's been between -30c and -40c for a month here in Alberta (no, I'm not joking), and every year I end up with dozens of projects waiting to be finished and taking up valuable studio space. I always prep as many substrates and supplies as possible before the temps drop, but sealing finished projects in the winter here just isn't possible without a heated shop.

It was 70 degrees F on Christmas day here! I think I'll get a warm enough day soon. This glaze says 50-90 is ideal and looking at the forecast, that is a two day wait for me. Not bad!

love them so adorable, for the owl, i would have added a glass mosaic or beaded branch as well, you're work is fantastic
@mazzonimosaics82223 жыл бұрын
Great idea! I thought about doing that but in the end decided to leave it so they would be more alike. I could still add a branch though...

I love how you layered the bugle beads on to look like fur! I've been looking at wooden animal cut-outs for awhile but hadn't decided what to cover them with. This gives me some ideas since I bought a pound of Apoxie Sculpt and have lots of small beads!

I bought gel (silicone) finger cots on Amazon earlier this year to protect two of my fingers that had developed an infection. I found they were quite comfortable and I could still use my PC keyboard.

Do you ever use nu skin ? I IS GREAT. for those sharp cuts. IT is like a nail polish and it has an anesthetic in it for the soreness. Every glass artist needs to keep it handy

I'll have to try it! My fingers don't get sore too often.

Think this is one of my favorite episodes yet! Loved all the animals you did, and of course, the owl is my favorite. Was wondering if there was any way you could list the different kinds of beads you used? Also noticed that thingy that had different kinds of beads in it, wasn’t the pallet, it was larger, what was that? It looked quite handy to keep the beads separated. Gotta run, going to Hobby Lobby to see if they have little wood animals! 😁
@mazzonimosaics82223 жыл бұрын
Maybe a storage container? I like the big 32 compartment container with curved compartments. I store loose beads. Lol and I’m so sorry- I don’t think I can list the beads! Many I’ve had for years with no labels. 😳 I will try to put some in the video description!

Arlene Bain. You can find those animals and other wooden objects like animals clovers and boxes and birdhouses at the dollar store and might Arlene Bain they have all kinds of wooden pieces to mosaic at the dollar store and Michael's. YOU would be surprised at what you can find to mos aic there

Do you think it’s possible to do the beadwork without Apoxy sculpt? Glue only? 🐢🌮

Check out Sabrina Frey’s work. She doesn’t use Apoxy Sculpt and uses beads exclusively.

I can't seem to see your responses to the comments below, so if you already answered this, I apologize: where did you order your wood animal blanks from? They appear a little thicker than what I found...and mine seem to warp a tad.
@mazzonimosaics82223 жыл бұрын
I ordered from Amazon. They are pretty thin, but the Apoxie gives it some strength once it cures.

How much would you charge to sell it? I am thinking of doing some pets for an specialty shop.
@mazzonimosaics8222 Жыл бұрын
It depends so much on where you are located and what your local area will pay for. Beaded projects often take just as much time as a cut glass mosaic, but may not be valued as highly in my opinion.
