You're right. The dose of information in this series is not enough. One can find more by exploring. We are short on this kind of English speaking man. Ahlulbait followers have a lot to do with translation. Proper Arabic and proper English for example are very important and critical. Muslims in general and Ahlilbait followers in particular are invited to pay a little more attention on what they adopt and consume. Many Muslims worldwide don't mind using the symbol of appreciation in the form of two - face to face - hands. What the market brings and displays is definitely not all good and fair to " buy". The icon of pleading and thankfulness is rooted in the so called Christians culture; in their prayers and supplications. Muslims should not follow blindly. May Almighty Allah shower Mohammed and his Ahlilbait with infinite Peace and Blessings. May Almighty Allah bless you and family.

Salam. i have a question but it may not be a clear question because i dont entirely remember which verse of quran mentions something similar to that. i remember a verse which forbids such acts like draw. Old arabs used to draw a straw to let the idols decide what to do for example whether they should declare war to a certain tribe or not. Am i wrong? if so does abdulmuttalips (as) action contradict to this verse? Thank u

Alaykum Salaam. Using draws or lots for decision making is definitely discouraged in Islam. Instead, the concept in Islam is that of Istikhara: seeking the counsel of Allah in matters where one is unable to make a decision or is receiving conflicting advice. Though the procedure might, at face value, seem the same, the intention is entirely different in the case of Istekhara. Moreover, we have forwarded your question to Sayed Baqer. The response from Sayed The acts performed by Abdul Muttalib were based on the divine message as was the case of Prophet Ibrahim. Thus this was a unique exception aimed to show the high status of Prophet's father.

​@Thaqlain Doesn't in itself make the actions right, even if that was Allah's desired result. Like one asks for a flock of sheep, he asks for 10 sons, then pledges to sacrifice one. Very different from Prophet Abraham's story, who was commanded by God, and was not trying to do a materialistic transaction with God. I believe in this story, Allah demonstrates the infallibility of man, even if related to the Prophet (saw). He in fact protected Abdullah when he inspired the person who recommended the camel compensation and while raising Abdullah's value to 100 camels, also taught a lesson on materialism to Mutalib. God guides the righteous.

The Quran at many instances has not mentioned names. But the hadith corpus, specifically of that from Ahlulbayt is pretty clear on this matter :)

Ibrahim was a Prophet he received revelations from Allah so when He saw in a dream that Allah is asking to sacrifice his most beloved thing in the way of Allah he understood he needs to sacrifice his son Ismail but in the case Abdl Mutallib there is no mention of any dream and also he was not a prophet he didn't receive any revelation from Allah. so here you are just assuming that he was inspired to support your theory of him being a believer.

My takeaway from this account is the anti-animal story with no sense and shows the greater willingness of Ibrahim than abdul mutalib…isn’t casting lots and games of chance forbidden in Islam? Hope anyone posts the reference to this….wow….is distributing sacrifice to unbelievers also allowed let alone accepting animals from them

It seems you have watched Episode 9 without watching the previous episodes :) Anyways, what Abdul Muttalib was doing was not casting lots but instead he was inspired by Allah.

I think this story is made up by pagan arabs. Their idols needed human sacrifices not Allah SWT. Atleast it must have been clear after the sacrifice of sheep instead of ismaeel as. So how a believer can think of killing of his own son

You just answered your own concern. Allah never needed the sacrifice of Ismael yet He made Ibrahim dream about sacrificing him so to set a ritual that today billions of Muslims follow. Similarly, in this case, Abdul Mutallib was inspired by Allah for this sacrifice so people can know the significance of Prophet's father.

​@@Thaqlainsounds like he was inspired by greed and trying to bring Allah to his level, later to get put in his place. Abdul Mutalib was not a Prophet like Abraham and to promote this story as what he intended to do was virtuous could (and has) lead people to commit what they think are divinely inspired crimes. He was going to Slaughter his boy and Allah saved him ans raised his status. Say it like it is.
