Picked up a couple P60Cs. I'm currently working on a yoke with a baby pin receiver to replace that stock photography mount.

Super useful, as always. Thank you! Also, do you have any suggestions as to rigging these up with two points of contact? I don’t like trusting a single mounting point, especially one that doesn’t have any anti-twist pins or something. What I was thinking of doing was using Maffer clamps on the C stand posts and turning the light sideways so that it’s connected on the top and bottom (both sides actually). Actually, I got the three light kit and I was planning to stack two of them, and then hang some sort of diffusion in front of them with the arm at the top of the C stand. If there is some safer/faster/standard way to do this I would love to hear it.

Awesome stuff! I love your videos...please keep making these! But I have a question that I need to know the answer to: can you explain why the connections in "prosumer" gear are always crappy set screw-style knobs that grind into the metal of the pin? I see other places where connections are made on round things (mic-stands, cymbal-stands, etc.) and they're super beefy, but easy to close and release. Why do grip connections gotta suck? Would you be in favor of clamp-style couplers instead of 1/4-20 knobs on bare-metal? It is the 21st century and all...
@GripTips3 жыл бұрын
Well 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 are standards in film, unless you’re rigging that’s pretty much the standard. As far as prosumer knobs? I’m sure that’s more of a manufacturing patent kind of thing. And I’m not entirely sure I understand the clamp you are referring to when saying clamp style couplers? Got a link?

Surely, you didn't think I was gonna miss this?! Cool that it charges the batteries... while it's on? How can I get a free sample of one of those? I want a light for the front of my bike for when I ride at night. I've never heard of the 60c or 60x, but my mom was the famous actress with the 60DDs. I didn't starve, as a baby. In fact, I took a lot of milk baths. Have I gone too far, yet? Okay, I'll tone it down. Good to see you back in the groove of things. By the way, have you ever heard of a thing called a C-stand? So many different histories thrown around. Do you know the REAL origin of the name, and have poof to back it up? Okay, time for my bike ride... in the dark.

Hey Dave, any thoughts on mounting the lights facing straight down off the 1/4”-20 thread? Do you think it would be too heavy? (E.g. for a top light) If so, any ideas what might be a solution for such a setup? Does the colour picker camera feature on Sidus work with the RGB model? Also what’s the rationale behind the turning counterclockwise before tightening? Thank you 🙏
@GripTips2 жыл бұрын
It would be fine on the 1/4-20, yes Sidus will do it’s best to match, and the rationale is to avoid cross-threading the female or male ends of the 1/4-20

Do you have any recommendations for a larger soft box that might fit these?
@GripTips2 жыл бұрын
I don’t unfortunately, but! You could use a 4xgel frame and diffusion. Like my skinning a frame episode. Then use solid flags to build the box with c-stands to block light leaks.

Hi, What kelvin does the P60c desaturate to in HSI mode? and is there an option to change this? from 5600k to 3200k etc? thanks
@GripTips2 жыл бұрын
That was a great question, I had to pull out my light and my meter says it desaturates to 6100… interesting!
@GripTips2 жыл бұрын
Also no, it doesn’t look like there’s a way to change it.
@jononeill20082 жыл бұрын
@@GripTips Thanks for doing that Dave :-) Is this pretty standard that the desaturated kelvin isn’t selectable across most LED lights? Makes it a bit tricky to use in a 3200k lit scene :-/ Also, what option would you recommend to power the head via v-lock? A dummy battery for the shoe on the back? Thanks a lot
@GripTips2 жыл бұрын
@@jononeill2008 honestly I don’t know if I would ever be that concerned about it if you are punching in a saturated color. I suppose the other option then would be to go into “gels”mode where you can select the source and gel. That’s probably the work around. As far as battery mounts. I’m sure there’s some sleds out there that can possibly do that. I don’t touch Batteries too often so I’m probably not the best to ask at this point in time.
