Just did this myself, a few months after watching your doccie. Even as a learner it has fast forwarded my learning from twice a week immensely. I'm almost ready to learn plain hunt now after watching it so many times in a week. I also took a week holiday, it is exhausting. Hey you should do some training videos, those games in Swanton Morley AllSaints, all need capturing for learners!

Haha I’ve just noticed David Webb was ringing at Reedham here. He’s a nice chap.

A very interesting journey Chris. You certainly seem to have developed a good ringing style over the year you having been ringing - some of the other ringers in the various towers do not pull (or, more correctly, guide) the rope all the down, but you are definitely "classically" correct in this respect. Glad to hear of your progress & that you are being invited to towers to ring for services.

You did very well on the treble at the second tower! all the other ringers were messing it up a bit but you kept in right place. I am a ringer myself down south. I loved the video 😊 P.S I actually did this myself a few weeks ago unintentionally! I rang every day Friday to Sunday (10 Days), on two outings to Kent and Surrey, ringing at both my home towers and visiting three practice nights. I also visited towers on both the Sundays! Had great fun! I rang at 18 towers during those 10 days, 16 of which I had never rung at before!

I tried! It's because I was ringing mainly by sound/rhythm and not by ropesight (that's something I'm still working on!) Where down South are you ringing?

Chris Richmond Thanks for the reply. I ring at Pulborough (8 Bells) in Sussex. Your video is very good, well done 👍. I also ring by rythm and ear quite a lot, having some musical abilities makes it easier than ropesight. I still use ropesight anyway, mostly because it helps other people if they don’t know what to do or get lost in the method. Really though, I could ring a plain course of grandsire triples inside blindfolded. You are making great progress and have a very good attitude towards learning ringing and, well as you said, keeping church bells ringing! Keep up the good work Chris! 😊

I would like to do this but it looks so confusing. Also is it loud in the place where you ring the bells?
@ChrisRichmond3 жыл бұрын
Of course it looks confusing, but if you're keen to learn, you can soon put your mind to it. Loudness varies from tower to tower, but it's normally A LOT quieter where you ring the bells. Trust me- a belfry is very loud! 🎧

Wells Next The Sea 16cwt in F# there nice they go good sounding but heavy tenor and Wiveton 11cwt in G there also good but quite good shame Blakeney's only got 1 and there's another church that also has got 1 bell only for chiming nearby I don't know what that one's called

Cley St. Margaret has one hung for chiming- that I do know.

I’m ringing at Cromer this week because there’s no bells at felmingham desperate to ring up the tenor or a heavy bell are they easy and is the rope draught long?

I take that as a compliment... :-D Although it's not true what they say- I don't play for NCFC reserves! I hear my Dad's new show on BBC was a flop!

Wiveton sound a little bit like Farnsfield in my opinion.
