Just wanted to thank you for the videos. Did my first paying job today. Was worried about the price. After doing the car, using hd speed and cutting pad on black paint, customer was excited. Wants me to maintain it. I didn't over deliver by much and charged a price I feel good about for me, and did quality work for him. Thank you for the videos. Used a little Fast correcting cream. Awesome stuff ty!

I've been thinking about doing this for side work. Just coworkers and what not. It's like Scott said in one of his videos, you don't have to go as far as paint correcting and getting every little scratch but just doing a light compound finished with a good polish and sealed and waxed, the cars gonna look great and a lot of people would be happy.

Thanks, just had my 100th customer for the new business. Have been doing interior, mold, wash/wax. i've been studying all I can to break into paint correction, I've been a gear head for a long time and I have a lifetime to learn all skills related to auto... but its a pleasure to be able to charge for them and put food on the table. Just doing interior work in the evenings can net me more than my career day job...

Scott I have a question? If you are removing wax/sealant would you wash with Dawn, then use your claybar then use the Duplicolor wax remover spray before paint correction or would a wash with the Meguairs soap,claybar then the Duplicolor spray?
@honeycuttmr
@honeycuttmr 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott, I'm confused. Do you wash with car wash soap, then Dawn, and finally DupliColor paint prep? I'm not sure if that's what you're saying and it seems redunant. I just use Dawn alone when I'm going to wash and strip wax since it does it all. But I'm a weekend detailer so what do I know? I'm probably half assing it and could be getting much better results, but I'm not sure what your process is. What do you do? Thank!
@johnlong9494
@johnlong9494 6 жыл бұрын
Jason, paint correction won't always occur across the entire car and Scott is offering you many options based on potential scenarios you will run in to. If you find you'll be doing more than a basic maintenance wash/wax, where you can use your own favorite soap or the Meguire's example for low gloss (then re-wax and call things good), as Scott specified in the video, use Dawn or higher pH detergent to remove wax. Then use clay to pick up remaining contaminants (so they don't get mixed into the compound/polishing work). After clay, remove remaining wax and grease in the specific area you will be performing paint correction with the Dupli-color remover or equivalent (isopropyl, etc). Now that you're through the protective wax/sealant layer, and down to a clean clearcoat surface, you can begin to perform paint correction. Hope that helps!

Scott relatively new subscriber here and definitely a beginner in the paint correction world. Waiting for it to warm up here in Michigan so I can really get my car washed and protected. Anyways I already have Chemical Guys Jetseal which I haven't used yet but could I use Jetseal on top of the HDSpeed or the Griots Finishing Sealant? Or should I just go with something like the Meguiars 205 or the Ultimate Polish? I don't want to go full on two step yet and go with an aggressive compound first because I don't feel 100% confident in my abilities to go that route. Any tips to steer me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the incredible videos. I know we all appreciate the time you put in to do these. Thanks!

well if you're going to polish your car with hd speed or griots finishing sealant, they both have protection within the polish and why we call them all-in-ones..i wouldn't apply jet seal over those products...but if you polish with m205 or ultimate polish, you can use jet seal after if you like as your protection..jet seal is a paint SEALANT and all paint sealants should be applied to VIRGIN clear coat and not placed over another product like montan wax which is in hd speed or another type of sealant that would be in griots finishing sealant...does that make sense??

@johnlong9494
@johnlong9494 6 жыл бұрын
@@olliepogi954, first you have to have an area that needs correction. After washing and removing contaminants (per the steps in this video), decide how bad the area needing correction is. A bad area that needs a lot of correction is a great place to test different products and levels of compound (aggressive/"fast" compounds versus finer "finishing" compounds). If the area needing correction is unquestionably bad, go ahead and play around with all the products you spoke of. After learning, use an appropriate compound with appropriate pad, follow directions on the compound product label, and once observing that correction has uniformly taken place to the extent your current pad and compound are capable, repeat the process with a finer pad and most likely a finer compound to finish the work. As you work, be sure to use a brush (as Scott instructs) to occasionally clear build-up off of your pad. Completion will be when your work meets your expectations.

@Snakeplisskin440
@Snakeplisskin440 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, there's Lake Country Snappy Boost to clean your pads. I would recommend this. By hand if you want to. I do it this way. fill a bucket up with warm-hot water with the Boost. Soak the pads for a bit then wear gloves, rubbing them out slowly. I also used a very soft bristle brush to work out any dried compound or polish. Once they look like theres nothing left in them, I rinse them and squeeze them out under the faucet. Then I used the polisher to spin them and let them sun dry. My finishing pads came out looking almost brand new.

Hello Scott. Give a Video with one of each item to take care of our own car, not two machines, 3 size pads (5 of each), 3 soaps, 3 compounds, etc Just give us a one each so we can start with our own car. Thanks

As soon as i hear you talking i got to watch something else, you don't show any thing new any techniques or craftsmanship sorry but you need to work on your voice and the way you present whatever it is it may be ok for people that don't know any thing about vehicle reconditioning and restoration.
