Great shout-out--truly love @Beercan Bushcraft 's channel, and all his great content. And great advice on "fidget picking"-I always have some locks with me any place I might have free time. Watching tv, while the wife drives on trips, my lunchbreak at work-use every time you've got if you want your skills to grow!

Even easy comfort locks make great fidget locks. Doing them mindlessly by feel really helps develop the fine motor skills and muscle memory needed for more advanced picking! And Beercan is completely deserving of a shoutout!

I’ve been working on the #5 for a while now. Being a lefty the tensioning was tough when I tried to emulate other presenters. Before I saw your video I’ve only managed to rake the lock open twice, randomly. With this video I successfully picked the lock twice within 5 minutes of finishing the video. now I can finally start to develop my feel. Thanks.

This is the best compliment that you could have given! My entire goal is to help folks learn, and if I contributed to you getting two opens that quick, I'm so glad to have helped! Thank you!

Amazing production quality considering your channel hasn't "blown up" yet. The more in depth advice given during the video is an amazing idea as well. Keep this up and you'll soon have a new career. Great video.

Thank you for the compliment! I'm a photographer and have pro lighting gear and cameras, and I have a small semi-pro recording studio, so I have quality microphones as well. My main focus is for this channel to be an educational resource, so I try to be as detailed as I can. I truly appreciate your comment and support!

I really like this episode! Lots of good info and tips for beginners (like me) just starting out. I don’t have a master lock #5 but I think I have a #3. I wonder if that one would make for a good fidget lock.
@pugspickslocks2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you liked the video. The goal of the channel is to teach, and that includes all levels from beginner on up. The No.3 has the same core (I think), so it's likely to feel similar from a fidget/get a sense for the pins point of view.

Thanks for the video, I like raking and rocking, how about some of those videos thanks again

Hey, you're very welcome! I do have a couple of videos on raking/rocking that I've linked below. I tend to focus on single pin picking because it is a more involved skillset, but definitely plan on doing more on raking in the future! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIK6dWeba7Ccj6s kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqnOlqSghJt0fsU

You could dip the ends of the Goat tension wrench in plasti-dip! This will give you grip and soften the pointy tip without interface in the feedback!

This is something I've considered, but haven't gotten around to yet. Thank you for the tip!

Nice vid, thanks! What's the purpose of the hourglass shaped silver cutout over the brass cylinder? Is it supposed to hind picking in some way?
@pugspickslocks17 күн бұрын
I'm glad you liked it! The cutout shouldn't affect picking at all. It's purpose is to prevent the key from turning past 90 degrees. With the design of many cores, if they turn 180 degrees, both the driver and key pins can end up in the keyway, seizing up the lock and making it useless.

The No. 5 is also fun to by-pass. I have video on my old channel. The Peterson Silver Bullet can't by-pass this size lock.
@pugspickslocks6 ай бұрын
I've never tried bypassing it. Mebbe I'll do a video on that in the future.
@laurenarndt4646 ай бұрын
@@pugspickslocks The problem is is the tools to fully displace both locking paws for the No. 5 doesn't exist commercially. You'll have to make them yourself.

That's a great technique that many people use. It's a fantastic way to learn how to control your pick depth and feel what pin you're on!

I totally get that my videos are more long form with greater detail and rambling than most. If they're not for you, I totally understand and I'm not offended.
