I believe that piece with Campbell on it is call a watch farb. It’s actually a key used to wind early pocket watches that are wound from the back case.

I feel sure you already know but other than using a hot needle to check to see if the cameo is real, you can also look at the back and see if it is slightly curved, it could be carved from a shell. Also check, if possible , to see if the edges are not the same depth. The carved one are often not the same thickness.

That sale is so packed... I love going to it but it's really hard to get through all those people. I guess that's part of the thrill - to get that bargain before the next guy. When looking at jewelry check the pearls out always because even if they are faux it could have a real gold clasp! I found one once that was white gold with a diamond. Had it checked by a jeweler and it was valued at around $300.

Hi there. I just love church sales. Were you able to go through all the jewelry? It looked like there might some really good stuff in those boxes under the table since you were likely to be first to look at them. I usually fill up my bags with anything interesting and then find a corner to look through everything. That way, I'm able to go fast and scoop up the goodgies. Lol. You know that I keep looking at that pink urn! I would have been there for hours looking under the tables. How did you restrain yourselves? Congrats on all your amazing finds.

Hi Danelle! Yes Karen eas able to look the jewelry over pretty well - what was left of it anyway 😁😁 Shipping prices are so high here, so it makes reselling tough, so we find it's easy for us to pass things up if they are not for us,and if they are larger to ship.

Typically, paintings do not have glass over top of them. We have seen exceptions to that rule of course, but normally that's how it is.

The key with the Greek letter looks like a fraternity piece. The back says Purdue Beta which I think is a fraternity at Purdue University.

Hi Daniel!! Sorry I'm just getting to your question now!! 😁😁😁 I would say a general rule of thumb is, we purchase at about a half to a third of the sales we visit. So... in a video where we buy something at 2 sales... we likely visited 4-6 sales to gain that footage. On a weekend out picking - over the course of 2 days we will hit 30-40 sales and be out filming for 12 hours.

Yes there's a few people here who make teddy bears out of real fur coats etc... I think a lot of the church sales donate the remainder if the items to The Salvation Army or Value Village at the end...

hello guy , how would u know if anything is sterling or plated silver without any mark on it cause few months ago i found some spoons and forks made in italy but i couldnt find any mark so

You'd have to get a silver testing kit. You would score the silver to see if you can see a base metal underneath, and also use a magnet to see if it's plated.. then use the acid test to test the silver....

Holy monkey butts not a very clear path to purchase . Is their an armed guard? I went to sale where you had one point of purchase and an armed guard at a church sale !! Very crowded that was difficult some people are nice others are bulls in china shop. A feeding frenzy for sure. That's funny but what would a church sale do to protect their good cause money. Do you ever wonder what good cause is? Plus at least in states they ask at shops do you want to round up purchase for the cause.. Got me thinking . Pl;us in calm time you had difficulty getting around what if panic set in . I know why old photos with babies featured butt naked on a fur, were laughing and giggling! We used to take old mink stoles (destroyed) and make sensual fur pillows. Laugh and giggle! Give it a try sometime. The pillows sold for more money than the coats would have. Nothing naughty meant here, maybe?
