Expedition Overland

Күн бұрын

The team heads south from La Bufadora in search of their first beach camp down the Baja Peninsula! Ryan soon finds out that curiosity with a vehicle can get you into sticky situations fast, especially on a beach... Meanwhile, Clay and Rachelle continue teaching some foundational driving skills to the new ones behind the wheel. St. Ignacio is on the team’s list of places to explore, and it does not disappoint with its epic architecture and legit food. Ryan has an idea of an ancient mission ruin to find, and the team heads into the mountains in hopes that the road will continue... #xoverland #bajaspecial #anywhereispossible

Love to see your Gaia track. But it looks like you were only an hour NW of the road from San Juanico to Mulege if you were near Rancho Nuevo. Hope you didn't backtrack all the way to San Ignacio. Gaia, Google, Maps.Me all have issues in that region. Best bet for us was Map E32 which seems to have every possible option. Baja 1000 moto team turned us onto that.

Excellent videography, as you would expect from XO. The problem, however, is that it appears that their trips are now aimed more at tourism rather than overlanding. I remember many of the earlier videos years ago when they actually showed more overlanding, and that is what I really enjoy. Don't get me wrong, it was still entertaining, but in my opinion, a little more focus should be given to overlanding, navigation, the vehicles, equipment, etc., rather than on scuba diving and restaurants.

funny idea , haha and strange, should see how people camp and survive at music festivals.... the struggle can be so REAL yet when you have to take everything with you in possibly 2 suitcases or duffle bags, fly, and survive 4 days and nights .... the innovations and thought processes kinda mind blowing ... i've done both driving and flying for fests and the logistics you discover, learn and develop are down right amazing

If you are in that situation and you don’t have a second truck with a winch it is still possible to get out on your own. If you air down all 4 tires to 10-15 psi and get in 4-Low, the MaxxTraxx alone will be sufficient for self-rescue.

I got bogged to the hubs on a beach in Baja last year. Took me and another guy a few hours of digging and countless attempts with Maxtrax, crawl control, etc before getting the 4Runner out. I ended up having to winch the trailer out. Luckily I wasn’t very close to the water, so I didn’t have to worry about the tide. Next time I go, I’ll be bringing a Deadman anchor for sure.

Hey Clay. First my family and I love all your episodes and have watched all at least twice. I do water purification as a profession and I would love to see a loading up segment on that mini pelican water filtration system you got going. I could hear a pump running so I was wondering are you pushing through an RO membrane as well or just sediment and carbon filters. Any info from y’all would be intriguing. Also, loved the Walthal adventure as I’m also from Maui and I wanted you to know I caught in the credits how you kept the kids last names as waffle. Loved the touch there. Expedition Overland is a great channel, but I prefer the earlier series where things were more easy going. Taking $250k worth of equipment for a simple trip to Baja is fine, but then it's a bit overly dramatic with all the safety checks and "emergency" recoveries
