I really hated Zhi Ying for killing Chi Yuan--all for the sake of a prophecy. 😭 It would be like me killing a person based on future astrological predictions. I wish Chi Yuan had instead found a way to fake his own death, because the Merfolk truly need his protection and strength. Right now, I hate Zhi Ying, the Grand Preceptor, and the kongsang Emperor Beimian. Past Emperor Xingzun was no good too.

@QueenXiaoFeiXia8 -- Yes, Shi Ying killed himself in the end.... or, rather, he persuaded Zhu Yan to kill him. But it wasn't to save the world from Zhi Yuan, it was to save the world from Xu Yao (the god of destruction) who had possessed Zhi Yuan. However, I totally agree with the gist of what you're trying to say, which is that Shi Ying is extremely noble and selfless. He was only trying to do what he believed was required in order to protect Kongsang and save the world.

But Shi Ying really didn't want to kill Zhi Yuan. He indicated that had circumstances been different, he and Zhi Yuan would have been very good friends. However, in the universe of this drama, prophecies are extremely important. And as a priest, it was practically part of Shi Ying's job to pay attention to prophecies. The universe of "The Longest Promise" is not logical and scientific like our world. It's a xianxia universe where prophecies are taken seriously and magic exists. So as tragic as it was that Shi Ying had to choose to kill Zhi Yuan, it's understandable that he'd make that choice given how serious prophecies are taken in that universe. As a cultivator who feels his calling is to protect the world, and as a prince who feels he has a duty to protect his country (Kongsang), it's understandable that if Shi Ying believed Zhi Yuan was the Sea Emperor who would bring harm to Kongsang and its people, he (Shi Ying) would make the difficult decision to kill Zhi Yuan. This drama is all about characters being forced to make difficult choices that are not black and white.

Not really, prophecy are always taken seriously in ancient time. Atleast mythological part believe it. He is a priest, so it is a true call for him.

The acting done by the lead actress is so irritating 🙄. Zhao lusi was more suitable for this role.

Ren Min's acting skill is great especially considering how young she is. Zhao Lusi is ugly and sometimes digitally airbrushes her tiktok vids to make herself look better. I could not finish watching Oh My Emperor when she appeared in the scenes.

Then dont watch it if you dont t like the female lead actress your not the director of this story...
LOL, did you even understand the drama you were watching??? How is Zhu Yan a bad girl? She's always been good-hearted -- loyal and protective of friends, compassionate and stands up for those who are bullied, and she felt guilt and remorse for having caused the young crown prince's death which was why she so recklessly went after people who could teach her the method to bring the dead back to life. She's impulsive, reckless, and at times childish, yes, but her heart was always in the right place. She's one of the least selfish characters in the story. She has huge flaws, but selfishness and badness definitely aren't any of them. When was she "sometimes running after Shi Ying" and "sometimes running after Zhi Yuan"? She's always loved Shi Ying and only ever loved Shi Ying. She was **lying** to Shi Ying when she told him she loved Zhi Yuan, because she cared about Zhi Yuan **as a friend** and wanted to protect him from Shi Ying. How is she the "number one selfish" when she actually made the #1 biggest sacrifice in the entire story? I absolutely love Shi Ying and think he is extremely noble and self-sacrificing, but I have to say that his sacrifice in the end was actually not as big as Zhu Yan's. Shi Ying made a huge sacrifice by sacrificing his own life to save the world, but Zhu Yan had to agree to sacrifice the person she loved most (Shi Ying) in order to save the world. Think about it -- what's more difficult, sacrificing yourself or sacrificing the person whom you love even more than yourself? I think the latter is more difficult, and that's what Zhu Yan had to do, and hence (as big a sacrifice Shi Ying made) Zhu Yan's sacrifice was even bigger than Shi Ying's. Therefore she is, apart from Shi Ying, actually one of the most selfless characters in the story. Seems you've been half asleep while watching "The Longest Promise" because you clearly didn't even understand the basics of what was happening in the story. Also, the ending wasn't actually a sad one because if you were paying attention to that scene where Shi Ying was trapped inside of Zhu Yan's sleeve, you'll realize he ascended to immortality. That's why in the moment before she stabbed him with the jade bone, he knew he could come back to her. And he did indeed come back to her.
