‪@Hookedonwildventures‬ Can't beat local knowledge - what pots to use, type of bait, tides and where to put the pots! We decided to head out and see if we could catch a lot of mud crabs, and boy, did we! We caught so many mudcrabs, we were practically swimming in them, you'd think we're PROs!

Ooooh i love the animation concept that conveyed the summary of all the episodes thus far. Not many may say this but I kinda liked that you showed how the trap works -- where the bait goes etc. I don't know why... i just do :) That "coral trout juice" scene was hilarious!!! I'd love to go mud crabbing. Why do I never see anyone eat the main body of the crab? Once u remove the filters inside, the rest is fair game. It's a bit fiddly but tastes beautiful. Is there a reason no one seems to do this with Mudcrabs?

Hi again, don’t be fooled! We lovethe body more than the claws but posing with them and eating the claws first up is less fiddly, as you say than the body. 😂 We have all the instruments to crack the main body and get every little morsel! I will share it on a post. Wr lovvvvvve the body and sometimes, sweeter than the claws. But yes, you are right, we all focus on the claws. We went mud crabbing again yesterday so I cannot wait to have the left overs for lunch today! 🤣

You guys are lucky your not in QLD female crabs are a no take and must be released where catching and males have to be 15 cm across the shell And you are only allowed 7 crabs per person and 4 pots loving the new tinny cheers

Hi Alan, yes different roles for different states for sure! We are allowed ten pots per boat in the NT, 10 mud crabs personal limit per person, max of 30 mud crabs per boat, minimum size of 13 cm for males, 14 per female. I think Fisheries think we are malnourished up here in the top end!!! 😝 yes, Hooked on Mini tinny is a source of joy for us now - and mud crabs!!! 😝
