EP5🐮 Koreans make santan coconut for the first time│Blimey's Kampung Life

So this is the last episode of "Kampung Life" series 😥

In this episode, we made coconut milk, which was used for gulai ikan. And guess what?
We participated from the very beginning process of peeling the shell of coconut! 🥥🥥😱😱
It was an exhausted labor, yet a very special experience!

Wow I haven't seen a traditional kukur kelapa tool for ages! Used to grate kelapa with it when I was still a school kid, mix the kelapa parut with crushed (powdered) biskut/roti kering plus a little sugar, then happily eating away, yum!!

ive used all the tools bfr since my grandmother still have it. the scissor-like tools (idk its name), you need it to be embedded deep inside so it's easier to open

Wahhhh... Traditional coconut grater. At my kampung, only youngsters had to do all the plucking, dehusking, grating and squeezes the santan out. That including raw materials prepping. Washing, peeling, cutting and get the spices ready. Sometimes youngsters are trusted to initiate the cooking as in boiling the bones for broth, or to soften the root veggies and that's it. They are not allowed to cook. Lol... Grandmothers, aunties and moms only come around into the kitchen to supervise and do the actual cooking until finish. The process start after dawn until midnight if for Raya Eidulfitri as the quantity is much bigger. Teringat kampung, all the gotong-royong. Crowded and bising with relatives. Playing firecrackers and lanters.
