Once again, another entertaining show and educational as well. George the 2nd was King in 1750. Thanks for a good start to my day.

I guessed 1780 for the wineglass and 1830 for the train. Lol I’m getting better. George the 2nd? Sorry I always get them confused. Another great show, David and David. Loved the brooch! Too bad one of them didn’t go into more on the clasp.

Hi David and David. I surprised myself by getting the date of the first train and the date of the wine glass right! As far as the name of the king when the wine glass was made, I think it was George the second as I think George the third came to the throne in 1760. I could be wrong, of course. I enjoyed episode 5.

Brilliant Joan and well done on the 1825 date especially. Its often a question I ask in my live shows…Rarely does anyone get it right!

a million miles away on most of my guesses. I tthought the scene on the brooch was painted on shell. The Georgian glass was lovely. I might be misremembering but didn't they have lead in the glass back then? Would sometimes give it a greyish appearance. Or did I make that up?
@DavidHarperAntiques2 жыл бұрын
Yes, lead has been used in glass making for many centuries…not so much now though!

I know squat about the Zodiac, but fellow Pisces here. NICE watch, I said 1980s or later and solid 18k (do they even make plated ones?? the Swiss don't know 14k exists) . The box is worth a few hundred quid on its own, and I'd cheerfully wear the watch. Price... I guessed 10,000 but I don't do watches. The brooch looked like 19th century gold-filled picture agate (landscape agate is the same thing in other trousers). 1870 or so from the pin stem. I said Scotland for an origin - pebble jewelry and all that. (dead bang) Price...200 pounds is closer to local value. George Stephenson... 1825. Heard the year elsewhere recently somewhere; I'm not that good! The wine glass - a double air twist stem, bowl smaller than the rim. Guessed 1770. (got the price on this one when I didn't need it) Off by a bit date-wise. 1750 - George II.

Excellent stuff, thank you and well spotted on the box, it’s definitely worth several hundreds on its own!
