1984 I read the book. Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa. My friend in high school Steve Kawasaki gave me the book to read, we both loved watching Ninja shows on TV in the 1980. I remember Takezo who was wild sword guy who was out of control and he meets TAkuan a Buddhist priest and OtSu the girl he never gets. It’s like. Gone for the wind for Japan. 1995 I practiced Aikido and meet Sensei Fuyura and I was looking for meaning in my life. I had lost many friends and was one angry guy, but. I respected Sensei. He would always ask why you so quite? I loved the hard core practice in morning class and Saturdays , I learned so much respect . I then re-read Musashi Book and I saw my self as Takezo and Sensei Fuyura as TAkuan the Buddhist priest. Sensei Fuyura taught me respect. Sword class, Tea ceremony and clean the dojo and respect. Takezo in time becomes Musashi Miyamoto due to TAkuan. Who humanism him… 2024. I was at USC book event and I meet. Jimmy Santiago Baca which he wrote a book called a place to stand. A place to stand was his experience of the Jail system. I asked him, “is it true, you learned to read at 28?” Yes, He educated himself and said the Jail system was my teacher to civilize myself and stop this crazy life. Then, after event, we both talked and I told him about the Book Musashi and his life experience and He said, we would read it. Jimmy Santino Baca life was based on the movies Blood in blood out and American Me. Both movies show how , Mexican Gang members stop living this crazy life and educate yourself. Today, HULU. Re-released the movie full 3 hrs Which in 1998 it was n VHS not the full version which today, its the full 3 hr version. . It’s a Mexican American Classic movie …….How to overcome through Education Thank you

It's crazy to me how you use Uta Abe as an example to try to prove a point during your philosophical aikido talk. Never in your life have you trained even 0.05% as hard as an Olympic-level judoka trains, yet you take the liberty to use her as an example of how "not to behave". Crazy.

Your rationale is insufferable!

Étiqueté is not the best ideal, but actual values of equality and respect. You’re not going to « beat people up » and then going to have tea etiquette with them - that’s bs!

A little weak, with respect to « beating people up » - have you begged forgiveness? If not, well… I don’t know, maybe you’re not worthy to teach? … I don’t know?!

So interesting, « everyone would pound you on the mat! » …such great values of the art of peace!
