The poor guy probably owns (leases) his truck (his only lively hood) and probably only gets paid commission per truck load, so salvaging it is his only option...

@@elsbethhumphrey2048 My wife's b in law works a 6 wheel tipper in Cambo and the lorries are not leased and very few are owner operated. The 4 ton trucks you see are sometimes owned but again not many of those either and this is because most Cambos are dirt poor and will never be in a position to owner operate or lease. These trucks are worth more than many of the drivers will earn in a lifetime 10x over and are leased by BIG business in their thousands from China but sometimes the very old and decrepit trucks will filter down and are passed from father to son and so on. My wife's b in law said this driver will be fired.....

@@elsbethhumphrey2048 I should also point out that the vast majority of 6 wheel tipper drivers are on a weekly wage of less than US$120 according to my b in law which seems crazy when our weekly shopping bill for a family is that much here in the west.
