I own the original. This one is great. The paint is much more accurate to the source material. From my eye, they did not change the sculpt or head at all. Just the paint. Happy everyone can enjoy the figure now. And I don’t think it will affect the price of the original as that one is the first figure ever and in low supply. I’m sure it will always be valuable

For sure. After all it's the original and, as you said, the #1 original in the line. Price will always be high for that one and at the same time a lot of people will be able to mess around with the KO. That's a good deal.

I feel the same way. CT is using modern paint technology so that could be one of the reasons, but to me the sculpt looks better as well. Maybe it's just the way that they posed the figure. I don't know.

I have EXACTLY the same thoughts about this figure and yet again, I'm sold on this one! Pretty sure paintjob is better on CT version since they use more advanced technology compared to Medicom was using back then. Headsculpt looks new, it's near perfect recreation of what was in tha movie. Damn I'm loving this design overall! And although I strictly stick to the rule not to buy MCU/movie/cartoon/game adaptation since they dont fit my displays, this one might give me incentive to make a small display of movie spider-men:)

They didn’t, but diamond select did and it was good for the time. They did get around to doing a TASM 2 figure, but that was very quickly dated and doesn’t reflect his suit in the film much. It was the Infinite series I believe.

It was part of a Walmart exclusive wave that consisted of Spider-Man, Lizard, Miles Morales (I believe that was the first ever 6-inch figure of him since he was new at the time), and an unmasked Spider-Man.

Hasbro's Marvel license was in a terrible state during that time and hardly made anything good. Their Legends line was hanging on by a thread as well. They made 1/12 scale figures for the movie that I'm pretty sure were under the Legends name but they had dropped any wording of that on the packaging, were uncommon and also really bad with ball jointed Y style hips and poor paint. They were still mostly pushing their 1/18th scale figures which is what you found at most retailers.

looks better than the original except for the paint job. the original was a lot more accurate to the movie in terms of color and texture. i also don’t like that they didn’t show us a pic of the front of the headsculpt.
