How thrilling to be able to see the beautiful fibers and blankets for sale, just hanging out front of houses in Ukraine. That must be lovely! My heart hurts for you and all the people of Ukraine, wishing the conflict ends yesterday. ❤

It was so interesting to see the natural washing process of the wool - I have never seen anything like that. I also thoroughly enjoyed the traditional embroideries. You are so fortunate to have women in your family to share their artwork and keep the heritage alive. Thank you so much for giving us a peek at the traditional Ukrainian crafts. Just beautiful.

Teti, thank you so much for sharing your Ukrainian heritage. The embroidery done by your Grandmother is exquisite. I suggest that you find a Ukrainian seamstress to sew the blouse for you. Also, I love new sweater design❤️

Thank you very much, Carol! I’m actually more inclined to sew it myself. Traditionally girls and women embroidered and made their own clothes, which took them months and years to finish. I’m in no rush, I’m sure it would be a spiritual journey and make the result even more special ♥️

Hi Teti! This was such a great podcast! 💕 Thank you for making a video of the wool blankets, that was very interesting how they wash and felt it. I used to know a few Ukrainian girls who were talented knitters and I was under the impression that they produce yarn in Ukraine and people learn knitting from childhood and that’s why they are great knitters. And Russians are the same. Almost every woman knits in Russia. I guess I was wrong about a lot of things about Ukraine. Very educational video. Thank you again! And I am glad to see you back, safe and sound😁

Thank you very much, Lana! I guess the paradox is easily explained by knitting replacing more traditional embroidery. The women must be genetically wired for tedious needlework, which makes then wonderful knitters with lots of attention put into details. I notice that same trend, especially if you compare with an average Scandinavian knitter, who you’d think should get the skill with mother’s milk ☺️ but of course, there are exceptions on both sides🤗
@lanastein9045

@@TetiLutsak Hi Teti. I agree with you. Embroidery you showed is gorgeous and it is the most tedious work, and I’ve tried, and it’s not for me😀 I prefer to knit😂 When I was growing up, I was into sports and I could never see myself sitting down….too much energy. So now I am older and I finally quit sports, I’ve been knitting for the last couple of years. It is extremely relaxing and I have improved my knitting skills and learned about different yarns and discovered my new wardrobe. I prefer to knit my own sweaters over buying from the store. I have couple of wool sweaters from the store and they are beautiful sweaters, but I enjoy more wearing my own. I regret that I never tried knitting when I was young. I think knitting is a cultural thing. Like you said, it is in your genes. If it is in your blood , it will be there forever, and it’s better if you start using it sooner than later because when you really enjoy doing something and if you are doing it, it will add more years to your life and it will add more happiness.
