A traumatic flood in the fall of 2013, devastated several mountain communities and claimed four lives in northeast Colorado’s Front Range. The 500-year flood knocked out both bridges to Jamestown, 12 miles northwest of Boulder, destroyed homes, displaced residents, washed away roads and cars, and swept heavy-metal laden mine tailings into James Creek. EPA responded.

A great story! The EPA employees shown are typical of the hard-working, self-motivated, and creative people I worked with at the Agency. The drumbeat of unsubstantiated criticism of "job-killing regulation" obscures the fact that environmental laws and regulations that have cleaned our air and water and removed dangerous pesticides from the market. At the same time the US economy and jobs have grown substantially.
