Epi 12, Bonded window exploded!

In this episode our bonded window exploded when a light breeze caused the door to softly bump the door stopper. The window completely shattered into a million pieces as it exploded like a bomb. Glass went flying everywhere. The vendor was mystified of the cause. We ordered a new window from van-pimps and they refunded us the cost of the new window when we sent them pictures of the carnage.

oh wow . that's a real bummer. I like the idea of the straps But i would have placed 2 on each door for more equal support they are big sails. and we made a visit on Friday. so glad your sorted

i initially thought the same, but then i thought that the tension will always be on one strap anyway, as i wont get them mounted exactly. they will always be a millimeter off, so one will be doing all the heavy lifting anyways.

Oh no. Gutted for you, just before going away too. With the door stop only being in one spot, it must have flexed the door enough to shatter the glass?

i think it was a faulty window, as the wind was really light. the door only tapped the bumper. i guess we were just unlucky

it looks like something had made contact where the top left of the hole is, could it have hit the wood stacked on the bed and caused it

No. The wood was on the bed. The hole came from the glass falling out overnight after the glass broke. I got up at 2am and had to patch it up.

The door will have flexed stressing the glass when it blew open.

Thanks. I thought the glass would be tougher than that. Couldn't have flexed that much as was at a really low speed

@@MovingNorthEast the clue is in your description of an explosive break, even toughened glass can't deal with that kind of flexing.
