What I do with bombers is that I first put a line of shield melee in front of them then bombers will be put in alternate in the window to avoid rolling projectiles. Bombers will be more effective that way since they can get closer and take out more of clustered troops. I use ballistas for hard targets and archers as a distraction from fire. The musketeers are good against crew weapons due to sheer range and damage but takes time to fire that's why I usually use archers instead.
