My theory about this song is that despite his motif being here, Aeolus is not in this act. However, we know that when they found Aeolus and the whole storm thing happened. They were VERY close to home. Especially since (i think?) penelope mentioned in one song that she saw the storm. The island was basically in the middle/on the edge of said storm, so it’d make sense if Odysseus recognizes it and knows he’s almost There

No, they weren't close at all but thanks to the favored winds they were practically already in the shores of Ithaca, then Odysseus who had already seen the smoke of his homeland in sight decided to take a nap and then the crew opened the bag

@sadieoliviaruiz1848 We must separate the many storms through the Odyssey. The first storm was the one that separated Odysseus' fleet from the one of King Agamemnon. This was just shortly after leaving Troy. The second storm was the one I was talking about. After beating the Cyclops, Poseidon sends many storms that prevent Ody from making progress. We could say that at this point he was still midway Ithaca (Although Odysseus in epic says "our home is in sight this storm is our final fight") that is likely just an expression, for in later he would say that they've been sailing for 9 days while stood awake, which makes no sense If they were as close as he said. The storm you are referring to, is when they opened the wind bag, but that wasn't the one the main comment was talking about. @Dairygodmother was talking about the second storm, when Odysseus first met Aeolus.

Have an odd theory We’ve been noticing Aeolus’ time dive melody coming into this song so lots of evidence to her coming to help Ody BUT! We also hear Thunder and Zeus is literally the only character with thunder in his music for obvious reasons, what if he comes down to basically punish Poseidon, not for trying because he cares about Odysseus at all but in God Games they would eventually free him and Poseidon though not being in God Games is disobeying Zeus’ orders so he comes down to end the fight as a god of ‘Justice’ and law (now this could just be insane ramblings but idk)

Either Poseidon or another sea monster (probably not Scylla cuz she needs six sacrifices and the only person alive in Ody’s crew is him. So Charybdis seems logically cause in the Odyssey he was strained at Calypso’s island for… 8 years? Yeah that sounds about right. So let’s say he manages to leave which would make sense, he can’t go through Scylla unless he has a death wish so Charybdis is the next logical answer. So he’s probably trying to avoid the whirl pool to make it back to Ithaca. But I’m just yapping! 🙃
