The limit for crappie in Arkansas is 30 per day per person. It was 25 they have even up'ed it because we have awesome crappie populations. Most states cannot support such a system but we have very fertile waters mixed with a variety of other factors that cause our crappie populations to be very healthy. Crappie reproduce at a very high rate and need to be taken out of fisheries or they will stunt themselves. We have biologist that monitor the populations and set limits/regulations accordingly. This method has sustained itself for a very long time contrary to some opinions out there. Overall this has lead to good populations of giant crappies. We have big gatherings with lots of people and have big fish frys. It's a great way to spend quality time with people enjoying a God-given resource. We don't keep this many every time, but sometimes we do. All is enjoyed, nothing is wasted. Hope this helps with some of the concerns out there.

Thank you for putting this information in here. The first thing I thought when I saw the stringer in the thumbnail was something about being greedy and taking too much from the environment. Wasn't going to watch but the scripture in the beginning allowed me to have an open mind. Thank you for explaining this and for being responsibly minded in your Fishery , and for taking the time and effort to explain it so that others know to be responsible. Most of all, thank you for being men of God and for putting the word out there! God bless you Brothers! That looks like great fun

Well stated. Panfish populations are very hardy in general just about everywhere. And obviously conditions down your way are ideal for a healthy crappie population. Curious to hear what type of gear you were running (rods, reels, line type/test)...

Gotta use the dental floss/super glue method. Cut back jig holder off shank. Wrap about 2 inches gloss around shank and tie double knot. Apply super glue and attach favorite jig. Will not slip and can catch 30+ on one jig. I also tip hook with Powerbait crappie nibbles that are slightly hardened.

Are jigs or minnows better for crappie during their spawning period? Are they easy to catch during this time?
@ChasingGreen6 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching, some days they want minnows and some days they want jigs, I use jigs 90% of the time though but I have seen them not touch a jig for a minnow. And as far as easy to catch like that you just have to be in the right place at the right time. We were super blessed on that day!
@crappiemadness91796 жыл бұрын
during the spawn jigs can be your best bet because the bite is super aggressive when you find active fish.

I don't compare Crappies and Salmon And Trout a total different type of meat to me both are great, also Salmon on the west coast have a variety of species with different textures in the meat, so each species of salmon can be cooked with different methods to get the best out of each species, There is a species of Salmon in western Canada and the USA called Sockeye these fish go fresh water to salt water, they have a cousin that lives only in Fresh water called Kokkanee the meat on these fish is so good

@ChasingGreen6 жыл бұрын
Not around our waters, I wouldnt keep bass like that but the limit here per day per person is 30 on crappie, crappie reproduce well, slot limits on most lakes of 10 inch minimum. Arkansas has stable, healthy crappie populations in a lot our lakes. Its actually really good to take crappie out of lakes that have a high crappie population because they will over eat and over reproduce causing you to have a bunch of 7 to 8 inch tiny crappie.
