Check out this epic DIY garage floor transformation! Full Video Here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKuQoYyMj72seMU
Learn how to prep concrete for epoxy coatings and how to apply epoxy on a garage floor with an epoxy DIY kit. In this video, I will detail the process of preparing a garage floor concrete surface for the final coating of epoxy. This video will explain how to clean and degrease the concrete properly, tips for repairing large cracks and pitting in the concrete and how to acid etch the concrete. If you are preparing concrete or your garage floor because you want to finish it with epoxy this video will demonstrate exactly how to get that job done. Repairing and cleaning the concrete prior to applying any kind of epoxy coating is one of the most important steps to ensure that the epoxy adheres properly to the concrete so the floor looks awesome once you are finished with your DIY project! After repairing the cracks in the old concrete, I will be using the Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield garage floor coating kit to refinish the garage floor. If you are considering remodeling your garage or refinishing your garage concrete floor then this DIY video will come in handy. I will detail every step that you need to know in order to redo your garage floor with a DIY epoxy kit. Overall, In this Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield tutorial, you will learn how to etch concrete using Rust-Oleum's Clean and Etch Product, how to mix the 2-part epoxy solution, and how to roll on the mixed epoxy, how to decorate the epoxy with flakes and finally how to add an epoxy clear topcoat. If you are planning on redoing your garage floor and want a DIY budget solution this method will be perfect for you! For a few hundred bucks you can turn an old cracked garage into a DIY epoxy garage floor!

The title of this short is DIY. But the problem here is that so many narcissistic self proclaimed flooring experts in this comments section are totally ignoring the title and are going after the poor guy who is happy to have done something on his own wthout any help from these clowns who are clueless about what DIY means . Where in the title has he mentioned that what he is doing is the best and only way of fixing this problem unlike some experts who shamelessly claim that they are the inventors of a brand new revolutionary flooring process that nobody else can replicate. Going after a guy who uploaded a simple video about how he did something on his own and it worked out well in the end . This has to be the lowest of the low point in the entire careers of these geniuses who think that a crappy job like flooring is the pinnacle of science and technology . Lol even a orangutan can be taught how to do this after a training period of two weeks using teslas neuralimk. these lunatics are debating about this simple process as if it is akin to a great scientist inventing a time machine...God the fact that these loonies are proud of being able to repair a cracked floor something if given time a 12 year old could easily accomplish is hilarious as f**k

Yup. I was lead installer for an epoxy flooring installation company and two roller-applied layers of epoxy without a thorough grinding is going to get peeled up in no time by hot tires. Foot traffic only might be fine for 2-3 years if he's gentle but nothing past that. An aliphatic urethane or polyaspartic top coat is also my recommendation, it doesn't react with UV light and turn yellow with time. That said this guy did a great job with the flakes, when I was training new crew members it was always really difficult getting an even, consistent look without a lot of practice

Pro tip. Add about 2-cups by dry volume of chopped fiberglass or regular old pink insulation to your patching compound mix per 5-gallon bucket. You can just shear it up with scissors or buy it choose by the bag. Not only does it promote better adhesion to the frayed edges of concrete, but it also provides some elasticity in the same way that rebar does in slabs. Many commercial products even contain some percentage of poly Esther’s or fiber for this reason. They don’t hold water, won’t mold since they’re a synthetic fiber and will also resist cracking and swelling. It makes for a MUCH more durable patch.

Intimidated ? No We just tired of fixing your DIY projects My wife fucks things up I say great job baby Then fix it so it actually looks good or lasts more then a day 🤦🏾‍♂️
@tkhachi

@@mikedee7163 Perhaps do the job instead of leaving your wife tired of waiting for you to have ambition and motivation... then when she's done waiting on you and does it herself, you feel like she's giving you more work. So jobs get done twice in your household instead of you, the person who knows how to do it, taking the lead and getting it done in one try? At least guide her through it? You sound like a real peach of a husband...

It’s because the original slab didn’t have stress cuts
@Boogerdick69
@Boogerdick69 Жыл бұрын
@@justinjosie5417 what are stress cuts exactly? And should they be done to any slab that’s 4-6” deep?
@justinjosie5417
@justinjosie5417 Жыл бұрын
@@Boogerdick69 a stress cut is a cut that is made in any slab. It should be a quarter of the total depth of the slab. So a 4” slab would have about a 1” stress cut. Any slab of concrete is going to crack. Only very small slabs won’t. The stress cut weakens a part of the concrete so when it does crack it will crack inside of the stress cut so you can’t see it. The cracking will happen because the slab expands and shrinks with the temperature. All driveways will have theses cuts in them. Sometimes they’re cut the day after it’s dry or sometimes they use a tool that makes an indent while its still wet. It just depends on which look you prefer though and which one is easier to do. Sidewalks always have these stress cuts too but they just mark it while it’s still wet. I usually cut slabs around every 10’ or so. So if I have a 20’ x 20’ slab I put two cuts one running vertically and one running horizontally to make a cross.

My parents did this to their garage and workshop years ago. It chipped and turned out crappy quite soon after. I doubt they cleaned and filled the cracks to the proper degree, though. They ended up dropping $7k to have a company do epoxy in their small 3-car garage with a lifetime warranty in 2021 instead. Looks great and appears to be holding up well.
