An overdue update of the Epic Egress move. For those just joining the Oxtoolco shop has moved 100 miles north to a new location near Placerville CA. Special thanks to, John, Ed, Jesse, Robert, Chuck, Gary, Jamie and Mark. Real friends will help you move heavy stuff and help hide the body. In this video you get to see me moving heavy machines around in a big game of tetris. Thank you all for you loyalty and support.

It is my opinion that the "shop improvement" and/or general facilities videos are just as, if not more, interesting than the normal content.

I love watching shop tours, shop improvements and machine teardowns/cleaning/rebuilding stuff. the normal stuff all the guys post just aren't as fun to watch, all though i learn a hell of a lot more from those usually.

@@ArniSPeturs Agreed. One of my all-time favorite video series was Steve Summers rebuilding the half of his shop that was falling off the hill-side. Was some of the best content on youtube in my opinion.

Wow, you got some heavy equipment, and some strong wheels on that green machine💯, figured that the wheels would get stuck in those grooves in your concrete, very impressive saw horse 🐎 👏 too holding over 2,000 lbs, our saw nags shake when we put a piece of 1x1 square tubing 😆😆😆 bet you'll like being out to yourself once you get used to it! Good luck sir, can't imagine how much stuff you have moved/still have to move, but take your time and be safe!

You don’t realize how appreciated content like this is. I’ve never moved a “big” machine like that where I didn’t have a forklift or a loader or something to pick it up, or drag it at the very least. To be honest, I didn’t really know how to go about the process safely and seeing someone I respect as a very intelligent person actually do it is a definite confidence builder. I think the biggest piece of equipment I moved alone was my 16” DoAll saw, and I just manhandled it onto a dolly. It’s not light, and I’m not exactly a big guy at 5’9” 185lbs, but I got it off the trailer and into my shop. Trying to move anything much bigger with just brute force probably wouldn’t go that well. Last time I moved my bench top mill by myself I thought I was going to pass out, and it’s probably only 350lbs without the head on it. Still about all I can lift by myself since I hurt my back 10 years ago. So, I’m guessing I’m not going to carry a Bridgeport in alone any time soon 🤣 Probably need to resort to smarter options for that!

You're fortunate the new shop has decent concrete for the floor so you can use those "skate" dollies. Some of the concrete work done on those out-in-the-country buildings is really poor--rough and uneven. Yours looks nice. Re: insulation--an absolute must there in the foothills. Winters are mild, but summers can be hotter than the hinges of Hell. I grew up in Concord, where it could be really hot in the summer during the day, but at night the winds would blow cooler air in from the bay. By the time you get halfway to Stockton, no more cooler evenings, and it's pretty much the same in the foothills.

Good to see some progress from the other side of the big blue ocean. I almost feel guilty for not buying a T-shirt 😉 but I am moving my shop at the same time, trying to tie the ends together while recycling as much as possible from the old shop. Like a lot of us, I am very familiar with the so called 15/16 puzzle: 15 numbered blocks in a 4x4 grid with just 1 open place to move the blocks around. The only problem I have is that this open place somehow automagically is filled with all kinds of things that need to go in the shop also ...

Excellent point on using only three skates. I have a set of four, and having one lose its connection to the burden on minutely irregular floors is real and annoying. Dunno why I never thought of just using three. The tie rod is also an excellent system. I don't know if my skates have a good way of doing that. It's been a while since I've used them.
