Epic Fail - Elevator Broke on Camera! - Sheraton Hotel - Dallas, TX

These elevators haven't been known for being very reliable... One was already broken before this happened, leaving only 1 of 3 cars running. Everything seemed to be normal... until it arrived at 38. It made a horrible sounding scraping sound, which was SUPER loud in real life. I am pretty convinced that was the reason it wouldn't move. I'm not quite sure what happened to it, but my best guess is that it has something to do with the doors. This was kind-of my version of Dieselducy's "Steinberg" experience. At least these weren't busy, so it didn't take too long for the one car that was working to get to the 38th floor.

My guess is that rubber thing at 1:04 that was blocking the door sensor was sticking out before the car got up to 38, and the car hit it as it arrived, which is what caused that noise. Then, like many other elevators do, it shut down when it sensed an issue with the doors.

Kone lifts don't shut down that easaly. I think the rollers were slightly misaligned and when the lift got there it likley banged the rollers and when it tried to close it didn't close properly so safety didn't connect.

I don't think it shut down, the door looked pretty far open when Aaron exited it on the 38th floor, I bet if he closed a bit it would have started moving.

I guess that scrape that happened on the way up to 38 caused the elevator to break down. At least you were able to get off though.
