My only issue with demos like this, is it appears that nothing is recycled, the framing could have been use for some woodworking projects and then the bricks could have been reused also, to recycle, it just seems to be ' too hard' best regards from Australia, Les

I agree, Les, but it's probably a question of economics. Paying someone(s) to sort through all that stuff, only for it to sell for a paltry sum (recycled materials don't sell for much here in the states), if it sells at all, just doesn't make financial sense, especially on such a small building. They'd end up losing money. They probably pick out the bigger, more valuable metal items to recycle and the rest ends up in a landfill. It's an unfortunate situation, but it's the reality here at this time. Plus, we don't know the backstory on this property. Maybe it was condemned due to bio-hazard, mold, termite damage, etc. Nobody in their right mind would want materials from a house like that. Or possibly, the land underneath the house became worth a lot of money so the owners were bought out and the new buyers want the property cleared ASAP so they can build on it. Waiting days or weeks for salvagers to pick over the house would, again, cost them time and money. Yes, it would be the "right thing to do", but money talks...

I can just see it. A guy comes around the corner and says "Hey! What are you guys doing? That's my HOUSE!" ha ha The power of that Cat is astonishing. All the tractors I see today have "Komatsu" or something like that labeled on them.

Smart move. That building didn't inspire confidence, looked like a couple Home Depot shed/garages nailed together and finished off. Check out the front elevation. Anyway, makes more sense to level and put in something solid rather than screw around with a rehab of a kinda dumpy building. I'm kinda in the same boat and after getting quotes for an extensive renovation/expansion of a similar ranch home, I realized just bite the bullet and level it. But, I'm n an $800k to $1.1M village. Here that might not make sense but there are some great mobile home/factory built/or just a new stick built.

Most of the people here are complaining about either the house or that tricycle being destroyed. If the homeowner wanted to keep the tricycle they would have taken it. Stop whining about it.

What tricycle? Its just tripping me out how easy this house is coming down. Very scary. No insulation as far as I can see. Built on a slab? Man a tornado would have it apart in seconds...a fire would have consumed it in no time.

Sometimes me too. 2007 my wife and I built our house. We were married 3 years. We have to sons 2012 and 2016, who were brought home to that house. Multiple cats, dogs, and other pets. We were ecstatic signing the mortgage papers. Swept the carpets, replaced items, played in the yard. Probably will spend our lives there. Our home. My family's home. Possibly 100 years from now (maybe less, who knows) it will probably be torn down and thrown in the dump. Think how many days, good and bad were spent in that shelter, to be torn down. Granted it's part of existence. Things will come and go. But to think the house I've raised a family in and worked my life for will just be a pile of rubble. It's humbling and hard.

There's lots of these old homes being taken down in our area and new custom homes built on the lot. If you get the property for a good price,it's worth it.

PLUS, mine is already falling apart so you have a head start… I probably would have also taken advantage of the situation and gave my mother-in-law a few glasses of wine, despite the fact she likes the expensive stuff (Barefoot), and told her to go relax on the recliner as a reward for doing nothing every day… Then, when you guys unload the machine and fire it up, I skedaddle out the back door and give you guys the all-clear thumbs up…

That driver knows what he's doing, no messing around. Right and powerful on what needs to be done. The best I've seen so far. The man standing there looks very confident, and the reason is obvious, he knows that the driver knows what he is doing and is therefore predictable and with that comes the feeling of security. All over, nice to see.

Could be a lot of reasons for demolition. First one comes to mind is "Infill". New owner wanted this land to build a new house on. In a very hot real estate market, this common. Perhaps mold or UFFI insulation here. Other...?

I am not an environmentalist by and stretch of the word. However, I angers me every time I see a home demolished this way. All of the wood walls are in fine shape and could be used again. The brick, the metal on the porch. I realize this is cheaper and faster but is a huge waste
