To summarize the experience of being a Marling Baits fan: 1) In November, he told us that ice fishing is lame and he is going to focus on making more fancy baits 2) Two months later, two ice fishing videos and zero fancy bait making videos have been published Our leader clearly has no plan but I'm still on board for it
@aboveaveragebayleaf92164 жыл бұрын
His plan is flying by the seat of his pants, but we go flying with him.

You see so many KZbinrs get burnt out because so often they only do what gets them views. After a while that gets old and stressful. Its cool to see Nate take a different approach and just kinda do whatever he wants when he wants.
@billybobby-tj9jh4 жыл бұрын
He actually has been making a lot of fancy baits, ( check his insta) just not making videos of them. I'm guessing he just got burnt out on the process.
@brownbouy30434 жыл бұрын
@@billybobby-tj9jh or hes doing batches at a time to put for sale? He also made a few for giveaways. I do agree tho, ive been making lures for 3 years now and man some days I don't even wanna look at the stuff, then others I'm in the garage for 14+ hours lol

Ohh yeah! I really like your new setup! Everything looks super professional and the video quality is spot on! Great to see this channel still growing! I left a link to your videos in a comment to some crafting youtubers who are interested in plastic molding and crafting type stuff (TheCrafsMan and Switch & Lever) because you are all using a lot of similar techniques and gear to do different things however I think you all might be able to benefit from the tips and tricks you have all learned while doing your crafts. It also gave me a few ideas of new stuffs you could try to make baits out of or new ways to give your baits designs. You know how when people make handles for short tang knives they sometimes use a block of resin? What about making a multi colored block like that to start out with rather than a piece of wood? I don't know what you could mix in to make it a bit easier to carve or cut through but every time you mix up some 2 part epoxy you could dump the extra into a little mold with some coloring and then eventually use that. You could just use some micarta blanks or just make some by dumping some wood chips and fabric into the mold and then adding layers of resin. If you did alternating colors then sliced it up and glued it back together you could make it look like scales! You could also try melted plastic like HDPE (link to a cheesy video with everything you need to know in it below) as that is something you can easily make a brick of in your garage with the tools you have. It should be easy to create a design you like and a to shape it with minimal effort. this could allow you to experiment with shapes and things that just aren't possible with wood because of weaknesses in the grain structure and/or other things. You could call the video fishing with trash or something lol. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5rKqZulfKqEfLc

15:48 I'M OLD GREGG! On a semi-serious inquiry, do you scuff between clear coats? Scuffing w/ 400-1000 grit and cleaning the surface with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol will promote adhesion as you build the clear coat. If chipping rears it's ugly mug, consider this step. Cheers.

Hey Nate..! When I epoxy Tumblers and Lure's I was having an issue with Fisheye's... A light coat of Matte Krylon Clear and wearing powder free nitrile gloves afterwards fixed my issues. Turns out it was the oil from my hands every once in a while handling the cups and bait's contaminating the clearing process..... May be worth a shot....
