best feeling in the world. Play against 4 hardest AI, just build up and defend. Then let the swarm loose with 500 population limit. Queue up every barracks/castle/archery range set a rally point on their TC and sip some tea

I personally would like to see some more mid level players doing games that end up in wonky situations. I know mid tier Elo is usually boring but it would be cool if the majority of players felt there was a chance one of their games could get casted if a ton of oddball things happened.

Me and my friend are mid tier elo, and we're so well matched we've had 2 hour games lmao. We always have something crazy happen. One time I actually used siege towers and they worked bc a lot of times he quickwalls and uses mangonels to guard against rams n stuff. A couple of times I've been raided but flanked him and raided his base, and we wound up base swapping. We know each others strategies too well and so we both have to think of out of the box things.

I used to be a decent ranked player back in the days of zone and mr fixit. Inventing new strats and rushes to upload for people. I always wondered how I'd fair playing this game now, I still feel like it would be muscle memory but it's difficult to remember all the civ advantages without picking the game up again. Is the only way to play this on steam now?

@@ExactConsciousness it's definitely the easiest way since it has both HD and DE and they've both been designed for modern PCs. You wouldn't regret getting back into it - I haven't.

The capture age overlay gives such a great overview over the strengt of goths. The with a KD of 366 to 636 the kills were still worth more than the deaths. And this discrepnacy grew throughout the whole game.THeir massive discount more or less guarantees, that they spend less ressources, even when a trade seems unvaforable.

I think Goth Pike/ Huskarl spam is the perfect Burgundian counter - they want to try to fast castle themselves but you beat them in mid castle with flood before the UU really takes effect

It's kinda crazy how rare infantry is at the pro level. I feel like we don't see combined forces enough in general. We typically just see up to two unit types, maybe throw in some siege or monks into the mix as well. I guess I'd like to see some games with a bigger mix, as well as more heavy scorpion play, elephants versus elephants, and unique units against unique units.

Very satisfying game. I like all the 'sneak villager behind enemy lines' games. I think it could be interesting to see how long players have delayed revealing their sneak military presence in the opponent's base, etc. Or, have players revealed their sneak military at a perfect moment when they were getting attacked themselves.

I've been trying to get into unranked online games. Only played in LAN decades ago and of course against an AI. I get kicked out of every noob lobby for having too high ELO. Go figure..

@@thealpacaa I understand the tactical and mechanical side of the game very well, but I have a lot of trouble adapting to the pace of the game. I probably have over 30k hours in grand strategy games, starting from CIV 2, and like 2k in pure RTS. I play on a couch with a cat on my lap, the latter of which sometimes sporadically increases my actions per minute, but not in an effective way..

People expect you to be really bad when you join noob games, like not knowing unit counters or build orders. But I definitely know what you mean, sometimes I just wanna play a chill game against lower rated player without having to try so hard. You wanna try and just have a chill game sometime? :)

@@thealpacaa I'd love to, but the thing I didn't mention is that I play the HD version, not DE. Even that I only got rather recently because I have the original AOE2 on CD. I'm yet to upgrade my OS to 64 bits. Told you I took my time with things.. =D DE was in sale on Steam recently so I actually already bought it, but I've been delaying the process of formatting and reinstalling Windows for quite a while now. It's interesting what you said about the noob lobbies though. Perhaps I'll just go straight to 1v1 ranked and see what's what. I've always loved team games and sports but I only dive in if I'm feeling well prepared and confident. I don't want to be the iceberg that sinks the ship.

KZbin only viewer here; I have no clue if I'm the only one thinking this, but while I love your efforts to put up KZbin only content, I generally prefer when you upload videos that you streamed on Twitch, because I like to see the "crowd's" reactions and also I like the "dialogue" it creates. But if you like casting videos like this in a more relax way, totally do it, it's great content nonetheless, and I have no idea if my opinion reflects the rest of the YT crew, and anyways you need to do what you love and not listen to strangers on the internet :) Love your content, can't wait for Hidden Cup!!! Medium to high numbers of Celt Onagers, or any Onagers really, in a high level game. I want to seem them patroled into the enemy base while supported with pikes and scorps. Maybe rams too.

What are your thoughts on mirrored maps instead of procedural maps? it seems to me that sometimes the terrain is in your favor and sometimes it is your downfall where people could argue about the result of the match due to luck and what not. Will a mirrored map even make a difference in the first place?

People always talk about gold, but stone is the real deal here. Sometimes busting a bajillion champions on a castle is a worthy trade, because you force the opponent to spend 300+ stone in repairs. And since stone is much less available than gold it'll force the opponent to buy stone eventually.

Hey dude, love your videos of course. But Im notice the low volume in the most recent videos, about 10 or 12 LUFS low than the "standard" of KZbin. Its not that bad but we must adjust our PC volume to watch your videos. You can add a little bit of compression to control the loudest parts and allow you to increase the overall volume (a small "Mastering" process). Let me know if you want to try something. If you go by unique unit Teutons and Byzantines work well against Samurai. In general also Paladins and arbalest. Skorpions especially khmer are insane against infantery on closed maps like black forest

Hey T90, I know this video is a couple of weeks old now, but I wanted to reply to your comment at the end about games we'd be interested in. I definitely enjoy these rarer style matchups and I'd be interested to see how naval civs play a "conventional" land game. So not Malay instantly going for a infinite fish traps + 2H Swords or fast Feitoria stuff, but like how do Italians/Portuguese/Malay play on a water-less map. Bonus points if its not Arena, but no judgment if it is. :P Love the youtube only content!

Ah, it's so rare we see mass infantry battles. Usually the meta is archers duking it out with knights and everything else is support, but the existence of Goth Huskarls is probably the only reason they can stand on their own as an Infantry Civ. Japanese lack that anti-archer answer, Skirms falling off in Imperial, their Siege having no bonuses, and no Paladin -- Japanese v. Goth is probably the only time we really CAN see a battle like this.
