After lego unveiled their new set, 75326 Boba Fett's throne room, I was inspired to rebuild and review one of my favorite lego starwars sets from 2012 / 2013 - that is the Jabbas palace set 9516 combined with the rancor pit set 75005. The lego designers of this jabba the hut palace found an awesome balance between the display value and playability for these lego sets, and today I want to showcase all the features I like, and some things I dont like about this lego jabba's palace with the rancor pit.

I was so hyped for these when they were announced as a kid. So many exclusive characters, the Jabba that was brand new at the time, a nice bulky and compact design that is still visually accurate and nice to look at... It's a full on little Return of the Jedi vignette. I'm so happy to have them on my shelve right in front of me ever since 2012

Great setup! You’re editing and lighting makes the video look really professional and was not expecting that from a small channel! I would guess the Lego Globe is in the bag as that’s an amazing set!

Jabbas palace was always a white whale of mine, especially since I got the rancor pit when it came out. Your channel was just recommended to me and wow your video quality is amazing

Seeing how meh the Boba's palace turned out (at least for the price), I'm even more upset I missed out on these 2 gems when I had the chance... Oh well, great review, even if I'm a bit jealous!

They are fantastic and worth the price even now. I believe that we will get another round with true Jabba's Palace but done this style. The good part is the parts for the dome are easily gotten on the aftermarket, the parts are *very* common. The Rancor cage is nothing special except for the Rancor itself.... I am AFOL so buying these sets on the aftermarket is easier, but I will tell you the set look fantastic on display, but the new one _could_ be made to do the same thing with maybe $30-$40 USD in aftermarket parts to make the dome area. The Slave Leia alone goes for $50... if you think about it, for a nearly ten year old set its not badly priced, especially for the minifigures in it. I would get the main Palace for cost (around $400 USD), then a used Rancor pit for cost effeciency.

I hope at some point they bring back the rancor. Rumor had it the new one was going to be brick built, but I think a molded one would be way more cool to see again! Great set!

Folks should consider that all the parts for either sets except the minifigs themselves are fairly cheap to come buy. Get a parts list from anywhere online, then order up. Used sets are also quite common (no stickers either used!) so they are around $400 for both combined or you can find all the minifigs individually but they vary in cost a good bit.

Interesting! I would guess that the only piece that would be quite expensive is the gate from the rancor pit. I havent checked it out on bricklink yet though!

Nice video. I just found Jabbas Palace on fbm for 100 bucks. The set is missing some of the minifigs but I can always pick them up separately. I already have the Rancor pit since 2013 and the palace was always on my list but I had come to terms with never finding it. The completed set is amazing.

recently i bought rancor pit set (the set is a little bit yellowed and it, the brown hinges are broken and without gamorrean guard) for 550 PLN so about 136 USD, w/o the box and instructions, and i feel like it was a pretty good deal tbh
