Question. After processing, do you pack the meat out yourselves (literally on your backs) OR do you get help from horses, 4-wheeler, other guides, etc?? Do you make it in one trip or several? Man, that's a TON of weight just in meat!!!!
@canadaintheroughtv2 жыл бұрын
Every time is a bit different, sometimes we have horses or atv/utvs and other times we have nothing. For the time we have nothing we either debone the meat and hike it out in big packs which takea multiple trips or hike out the quarters whole check this video out of how we hike out whole quarters! kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3iqcoJro6uNiLM

Headshots are discouraged because of the high risk of it being non-fatal. The head looks big but the vital area within the head is quite small

Nice animals..and great video... However..Why...when an animal is sooooo close people shoot it in the boiler.... perhaps it is just my style, but I prefer to dump the animals where they stand.... I see this all the time...Shocky's hunt for an example...bring the animals in to less than 100 ft...then shoot them in the boiler... tough decision I guess
@crowpile46382 жыл бұрын
You ever head shoot and than split the skull? These guys hunt for trophies,
@Mooseracks Жыл бұрын
@@crowpile4638 head shot.. just below the horn/antler....within 200 yards...neck or behind the ear... I shot a nice bull this year...but free hand about 150 yards standing on my tiptoes on a running quad....lol just a really quick shot..2-3 seconds...target acquisition then pull the trigger... BUT I HAVE shot moose in the boiler...funny thing...I SEE THE IMPACT OF THE BULLET...AND RARELY RARELY need a follow up shot...
@canadaintheroughtv Жыл бұрын
This is not true at all. Many times we split the skull just to make it easier to get it out. We aim for the lungs because it is the highest percentage shot. Aiming for head often results in deflection or Aiming for the head, neck or spine often results in the animal dropping and gets back up again.
@Mooseracks Жыл бұрын
@@canadaintheroughtv wild...NEVER had a deflection from a head shot...the BOILER IS a GREAT AIM POINT...3 FOOT BY 3 FOOT... for most people, this is the best target...BUT I WILL STAND BEHIND 100% what I said... Why aim for the boiler when the animal is 100 ft away??? I've shot more moose than most people in my 50 years of experience hunting. HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT EXCLUDE THE FACT...I had taken animals where the ONLY (THE ONLY) shot I had was in the boiler. Lol yup, I even shot a big bull moose right off the back of a cow TRUE STORY.... QUICK SHOT...YUP...340 yrds away...IN THE BOILER. MY POINT IS....when you have an animal so close and you can make a clean kill...(drop it where it stands) WHY SHOOT IT IN THE BOILER? HIGHEST PERCENTAGE SHOT....H.M.MMMM. it really boils down to knowing your firearm and having the confidence and skills of you aim point... Do you see the impact of that bullet? love the video just the same....cheers

Does anyone else think that using shooting sticks at 60 years is pathetic? Steiner scope to boot. I think it might be an improvement to hunting if hunters were forced to prove they could hunt at 100 yards with simple iron sites. If you can’t do that, keep your fancy rifle and scope and sit home until you learn how to use a rifle properly
