Edit: this might not actually be true, take with salt. Did you know that Rimworld has vein mining built into it? Just press the “=“ key when clicking on exposed ore and it will designate all connected ore to be mined

It always surprises me how few people know about the vanilla vein miner option. It's a bit awkward at times since it expands all mining selections, but usually does what you want as long as you're only mining 1 deposit at a time.
