(1-8-20) Enjoy a ride on a very rare and unique moving walk right here in Norfolk, VA. This walkway isn't rare only because it's an O&K, but the fact it's so long AND has a variance in angle towards the top.

Kinda reminds me of that Goodyear one at the space mountain exit which unfortunately got ripped out, but it was super long like it goes flat first, then it slopes down, then it flattens out again, then it slopes up, and it ends.

I can't remember the exact year when this happened but the escalators and moving walkways of O&K has been purchased by KONE and for a period they were branded O&K KONE and, only in Italy, also O&K FIAM and O&K SABIEM (FIAM and SABIEM were two Italian elevators manufacturers both purchased by KONE in the middle of the 80s)

I went to Italy last year but only managed to find one O&K FIAM escalator by accident in a department store in Catania, Sicily. Didn't find any O&K KONE or even O&K Sabiem (like you said) though.

@@idl3k_elev The locations where I saw O&K KONE escalators were at the Milano Centrale M2 and M3 subway station and at the Saronno (in the province of Varese) railway station

That moving walkway reminds me of the one at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand I rode a couple of years ago which also has a flat part in the middle. It was a KONE however.

These are very common in Europe. Especially in supermarkets : Instead of having 2 separate systems like there is in some Target stores, we have some of these. These having a "flat zone" in the way is rare, though...

Wow haven’t rode a moving walk since 2005 when the grand opening of IKEA at Atlantic Station in Atlanta Georgia, which of course was a Schindler not an O&K System, which never rode anything O&K, that’s like Fujitec or Mowrey rare of course, but honestly I prefer escalators better, moving walks are very weird to ride on, because it is extremely hilly and flat at the same time, but anyways stay safe during the corona virus Dieselducy/Andrew you have made my hometown metropolitan area of Georgia famous over the years sir! 👍🏻
