Hey Daniel! Glad you liked our Video! Yes it is a tarp - poncho combination and I highly recommend it. It is from six moon design and is called gatewood cape.
@simonheimgartner50743 жыл бұрын
Hey Manuel! LG Simon
@Manuel-qo8yl3 жыл бұрын

Comgrats guys for the cool video. Two questions for you 1) how did you plan the route? 2) which software are you using for the 3d map? Thanks
@simonheimgartner50743 жыл бұрын
Ciao Davide. Glad you liked our movie. In advance we had a general idea of some spots we would like to visit. I often flew around with google earth that gave me allready an idea of the landscape, possible valley crossings, etc. Then I really think you have to be spontaneous on the trip and just adapt on the situation. As soon ad you go outside you are in an adventure and normally it is impossible to plan it. It really helped that we had good phone reception and internet so we could just make a new plan on the spot and in any case adapt it. We did our 3d maps with ayvri.com it is simple and works great. I hope that I could answer your questions. Cheers Simon

@simonheimgartner50743 жыл бұрын
Hey Sandro.

@chmduquesne3 жыл бұрын
Hey guys! I am looking into doing something similar. One thing that's scaring me are the regulations towards camping in the Alps. You have been crossing several countries, all of them have different rules towards bivouacking in the mountains. Did you respect them at all times, or were you counting on the authorities being "flexible"? If you have documentation about what to do/what not to do, it's helpful!
@simonheimgartner50743 жыл бұрын
Hey Christophe For me there is a big difference between camping and bovouacking. Honestly we never ever had any problems to find a spot to set our tents. I would be more concerned about subjects like valley wind, föhn, injuries, etc...Do not worry about spending the night outside...
@chmduquesne3 жыл бұрын
Ah ah of course I do not intend to cross the entire Alps first try 😀 My plan was to get started with small bivouack weekends in my area (Bayern/Austria), where I know the place and the local wind system. That is why I am currently only worrying about whether I am allowed to do it. If I look at these areas, the rules seemed to be pretty strict, although "emergency bivouacking" seems to be allowed. It is however unclear whether it can be called emergency bivouacking if you bring a tent and a sleeping bag. But you seemed to have no problem in Austria, so I guess it is just a matter of trying 🤷♂️

Hey there! Glad you liked our movie! I have been flying for 11 years and Romeo for 6 years. It allways helps when you have a general idea about the weather the next few days...So you can decide on the orientation of the take off or sometimes do not hike up at all! @@simonheimgartner5074 Hi Simon, sure did like it. I didn't even fly the 23rd of July. Must have been too hot, too stable. @@lexhagenbeek8346 thanks for the infos. Pretty interesting! Actually the first 30km were brilliant to fly. But then the NW windd was kind of disturbing. Hey Robert I really like July for volbiv. The days are long, the nights are warm, the thermals are good and you normally do not have to fight stable air-masses like sometimes it is already the case in august.
