We embarked on an exciting journey on our KTM Duke 390 bike from Pune to Guhagar and then onward to Goa, taking the scenic Konkan coastal route. The plan had me buzzing with excitement, especially since we’d be exploring the coastal charm of the Konkan region.
Our journey began early at 6 AM. After riding for a while, we stopped a little beyond Mahabaleshwar for breakfast. This area is dotted with restaurants, but we chose one for its stunning view of the mountains. We ordered misal pav, poori bhaaji, and chai, relishing the flavors and the serene surroundings. Once refreshed, we resumed our ride.
As we passed through a small village, I was captivated by the unique architecture of the houses. They looked so different and fascinating. Later, we reached the ghat section, where the winding roads were thrilling. We took a break at a small stall, and my curiosity led me to explore its backyard. To my delight, I discovered a stunning view and learned that the family there offered tent camping with meals included, all for Rs. 3000/-. It seemed like a perfect getaway spot.
On the way, we came across stalls set up under huge trees, adding to the charm of the journey. We also spotted some playful and curious monkeys, which was quite amusing. The heat started to catch up with me, so I removed one of my jackets to feel more comfortable.
Further along, we crossed a massive tunnel and stopped at Hotel Riverview for a quick cup of tea. By this time, sleepiness was kicking in since I hadn’t slept the previous night due to the excitement of the trip. Splashing some water on my face refreshed me instantly.
We encountered a minor inconvenience at a petrol pump where GPay wasn’t accepted. Thankfully, we had some cash on hand-a valuable reminder of the importance of carrying cash even in today’s digital age.
Finally, we reached Guhagar. Surprisingly, I wasn’t tired at all and was brimming with energy, ready to explore the charming town ahead.
