Join me on an unforgettable adventure as I embark on a road trip to Spiti Valley, one of the most breathtaking destinations in the Himalayas. From winding mountain roads to serene monasteries, this journey captures the essence of this remote and stunning region.
In this Vlog I will take you through all the places I explored on my way to Sangla valley in Kinnaur district, from Delhi.
How to reach Spiti
There are two ways of reaching Spiti. You can start your journey from Chandigarh/ Shimla and go to Spiti via Kinnaur or you can go via Manali. Travelling to Spiti via Manali is possible only from May - September as the high passes along the way like Rohtang Pass and Kunzum pass get buried under snow from October till April. But the roads from Chandigarh to Spiti via Kinnaur are open all the year round. You can travel to Spiti in winters too, via Kinnaur.
I am travelling to Spiti in the month of April , so won't be able to complete the full circuit. I will be returning also via Kinnaur.
Day - 1
I started my journey from Delhi to Chandigarh by morning Indigo flight and reached Chandigarh at 9 am. From there I took a cab till Spiti and back. We drove down till Rampur Bushahr, a town 120 kms from Shimla, and stayed the night there in Nau Nabh Heritage hotel which is a part of the historic Padam palace of Bushahr dynasty.
Bushier Dynasty - A Regal Legacy in the Himalayas.
The Bushahr Dynasty stands as a testament to a rich historical Tapestry of the Himalayas. The Bushahr dynasty traces its roots back to the 7th Century. According to the legends, the dynasty was founded by Pradhuman, the son of Lord Krishna who established his kingdom in the picturesque valleys of the Himalayas. The rulers of Bushahr initially governed from Kamru, later moving their capital to Sarahan, where the majestic Bhimakali Temple stands, and finally moved to armour Bushahr about 100 yrs back on the banks of river Sutlej.
Day - 2
After breakfast i explored beautiful Padam palace and left for Sarahan, which is famous for Bhimakali Temple and Sarahan palace.
Padam Palace - It is one of the major attraction at Rampur Bushahr. It is the private property of the Royal family of Bushahr, late Shri Virbhadra Singh ji who was the former chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. Padam Singh ji , who built this palace was his father and was the 122nd king in the lineage of this dynasty.
Sarahan - A small town famous for Bhimakali Temple and Sarahan Palace. This town is also known as "Gateway of Kinnaur". Sarahan has been the summer capital of the Bushahr rulers and Rampur Bushahr was the winter capital.
Bhimakali Temple - A symbol of the Bushahr dynasty's devotion and Architectural prowess, this temple is dedicated to the goddess Bhimakali. The stunning Temple complex is renowned for its intricate woodwork, exquisite carvings, and its significance as a pilgrimage site.
Apart from all this, we will be seeing lot of interesting places on the way. So please stay with me till the end and enjoy the Journey to the most picturesque Valley of Himachal Pradesh.
