"Hero" is another diamond by Mountains vs Machines just for how catchy the vocals and instruments sound in it. What defines a hero is subjective as while your actions could be seen as heroic to some they can also be seen as nasty by others however theft and murder are seen universally by most of the population as being evil so anyone who prevents them from happening to others will be seen as heroic by the majority of the public so in my view in attempting to be a hero strive as much you can to uphold principles which then you take actions from to do good deeds which are seen as universally good like helping the homeless, protecting the ones you love and take a calculated risk and where you can potentially save someone from a horrible situation example a burning building or if someone is about to stabbed or shot but those are extreme situations and people like firefighters and policeman who truly protect others from dangers like this are truly heroic. To further add you don't have to put yourself in extreme situations like that unless it's your job or if you know what you are putting yourself into but even just by being polite with your family, friends , strangers on the street and doing favors like being there for them when they are lonely or lending them money or food without expecting anything in return is already you taking a path towards being a hero or if not a hero at least a decent person and lastly it's okay to put yourself first as the best way to help others is to start by helping yourself first. I know I went off topic from the song "Hero" but I believe this piece was so good it inspired me to write the text above and other people are inspired to do good deeds because of bands like Mountains vs. Machines and their music I will be more than thrilled :).
