Epic’s new MetaHuman Animator might be a big deal for video game animation.

Epic will soon let you animate your MetaHumans. The company first launched the MetaHuman creator tools in 2021 as a way of streamlining the process of making more realistic human characters.

The problem is not the lips movement, is how light acts over teeth, gum and inside mouth

The mouth is all weird. It could just be the actor's over exaggerated gesticulations but no person in real life contorts their mouth like that to express anything.

But do we need it? The answer is Yes, but at the same time it makes me wonder. Aren't videogames suppost to be escape from reality? But then we are making games more and more realistic. Sure, there are planty of video games that still stick with cartoony and other stiles and not realism. But still it makes you wonder. (and it's not just graphics, but stories characters etc too)
