The original RMX 16 was also used in large touring rigs. One of my all time favorite reverb boxes. When I was doing arenas in the 80-2000s before digital desks became the norm, I always had an RMX 16 in my racks……my very heavy and cumbersome racks!

I used to work at a studio called Sound On Sound, in midtown Manhattan, in the 90's. They had an RMX-16 and a DMX. I think that AMS did a really smart thing releasing this in the 500 format. The RMX sounds realistic to my ear! It's very usable with little fiddling.

I agree. As a long time fan/user of the original this 500 series version sounds true to the original…

@AndrewMasters2 жыл бұрын
I might do something like that - it's really as simple as connecting to interface outputs, and then sending signal out of those outputs.
@poseidonmusic2 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewMasters I figured it might be something that straight forward. Do you setup bus sends as if you were doing a headphone mix in pro tools and then just route those outputs to the Behringer? How do you manage (or let the artist manage) verbs or other fx? Thanks again bud, great to see your channel growing, loads of inspiration from all the studio tours you do as well! Keep up the great work.

Is it correct that I was told this unit is literally the same exact thing (100% identical) as the plug in version (as opposed to the old, original hardware boxes)?
@TonyAndersonMusic2 жыл бұрын
I use both all the time in my sessions, and the difference is in how they sound (respectively) is that when you drive more gain into the physical unit's input (or output), it sounds different than adding more gain on the plugin version. The gain staging is the magic of the physical 500 series. I like both for different reasons, but fund myself using the hardware version more. The software version is flawless in its own right.

I’d love to see how you’re routing it in Console. How do you run a stereo synth into the mono input and then out stereo again?
@AndrewMasters2 жыл бұрын
One channel goes in, two come out. In console you set the output of the channel to the outputs going to the unit, and then select mirror to monitor.
@AndrewCCM2 жыл бұрын
While I completely agree about outboard gear and the feel. (I have a bunch!). If I’m spending money on an outboard piece of gear, it’s not for something that is digital. The way I look at it, outboard gets its mojo from being analog. If digital, it would seem the equivalent plug-in would be basically the same. For me, the price for outboard gear needs to have an ROI that I can’t get/replicate bit by bit in a plug-in. Having said that, If I were rich or had a KZbin channel, I definitely would go the route you did though. Cost of doing business at that point. Lol
@AndrewMasters2 жыл бұрын
That’s cool! I’m a little more neutral on the analog vs digital binary. I love it all.
@michaelcandido28242 жыл бұрын
Digital hardware and plugins are not the same. The amount of chips alone on digital hardware reverb like lexicon, Yamaha or some old school verbs would tax a modern day computer to much if they were doing it algorithmically as opposed to convolution which still takes a lot of cpu. The spread and width is also another factor which is big enough to justify buying a hardware digital unit.

I have no idea how you were able to afford this lifestyle for yourself, however the content is somewhat pleasing... however, certainly leaves on feeling somewhat jealous and or envious. Congrats @tonyanderson and you too @andrewmasters I would love to know how you get set up like that with the gear you guys have in your arsenal. Big Thumbs Up and Shout Out to you guys 😀
@michaelcandido28242 жыл бұрын
Save up for a few pieces a year, find good deals on vintage etc. sit on it and some of it will keep its value or double or triple. Don’t be envious, it definitely takes a lot of work and sacrificing to afford this stuff but it’s the difference between taking your craft seriously or not.
