Hey Mike. Have you ever used the Duo Tideminnow 90? It is 1/2 oz and has a weight transfer so it would likely cast really far for its size. I feel like it would be better than a 110 for perch and could still entice a striper. The only downside I see is 2 month shipping from Japan 😅. I would appreciate your thoughts. 👍🐟
@mikestacklebox2 ай бұрын
@@Ducky2o I have never used anything that small in the surf for stripers or perch. Over the years the 110mm is the lightest we usually use. Possibly in a setting like SoCal waters maybe but with our swells like Nor cal 115mm-160mm (stripers) is the sweet spot I’m terms of profile.

That's actually funny. I caught a 27" last Sunday and up until she became visible near shore I was sure to think it was a halibut. The main reason was the hookset was at the nose and the line had wrapped around the tail couple of times..lol.

Awesome vid as always, Mike! Pretty new to surf fishing and was curious about the landing technique you were talking Mike through when using terms like “loosening up” “feeding him” “tight on the tip” etc. Care to elaborate more?
@mikestacklebox2 ай бұрын
@@duce408 absolutely when the shakers if not small fish hit the shoreline they will gator roll and wrap the tip in the process breaking everything. I’ve unfortunately seen it happen with another angler losing the fish, breaking the rod, also losing the lure. Having enough slack will give you enough leeway just in case they do make another run.
