No way… how have i been so ignorant, i must keep exploring!The mountains are calling, I never imagined trout of this caliber. being a rock throw away from here, this builds my excitement to keep returning in search of these natural elusive species

Thanks for the post and keeping the location secret. About 15 years ago, I hiked into a few places and caught some wild trout. I haven't been back since the Station fire in 2007. Although, I did scout one stream I fished before the fire. The stream was again free of debris and the water crystal clear. It could definitely support trout, but I didn't see any. I thought they all died during the fire between the intense heat and debris in the stream. Glad to see some survived!

Beautifull fish ! Nice video too ! I'm glad to see the fish are that big in the San Gabriels ! Hopefully those larger fish will be found throughout more of our local streams. Still, even the 8 or ten inch wild trout are fun and brilliantly colored !

I do use Tenkara on these small streams from time to time. I haven't found the thick brush and trees along these tiny creeks to be conducive for normal fly fishing though...maybe I'll find a better spot in the future!

My guess that this is creek that runs into Bear Creek, West Fork, Bear Creek; about 4 miles above the West Fork. We fished there for over 20 years in the 50's-70's
@NightHawks855 жыл бұрын
I use to hike a trail out there a few years ago that led to an old burned down park ranger station. Where the river led to a nice pond filled with small mouth bass. So sad I hiked up there a week ago. Everything gone not a fish on site even in the main river

Sad :( But probably different creek :)

It's a Shakespeare telescopic micro ultralite rod with spinning reel. Big5 had it on sale for $15 a few years back, usually sells for $40. It's a little hard to find, sadly.

Thanks! Gotta keep releasing 'em so they get larger!

The San Gabriels covers 970 sq miles. Good luck finding this location. I prefer to include relevant, although generalized, loctation in the title. Afterall, I am "broadcasting to the world" and would prefer others know that this is in SoCal, not Montana or Idaho. The hike alone required for this location would deter 95% of anglers. You mad?

Im guessing this location is deep into the bike trail?

these side tributaries are fairly numerous all throughout the San Gabriel river and to find that one would take some time.IMO

Great video! Brings back memories of fishing above Azusa in the 80's when the waters were less disturbed and crystal clear. I was surprised to see something other than Rainbows, was that a Brookie and a Brown I saw in there? Curious, may I ask your line and test?

I like the way you fade the ambient sounds in and out of the various video clips. Nice touch. Could I prevail upon you to say what telescoping rod it is you're using in this video? It looks to collapse down to something close to 12". I want one just like yours!

This has to be West Fork at San Gabriel River, north of Azusa (off of the 210 fwy). This location is a 10 plus mile stretch, along a creek, all the way to "Cogswell Reservoir." East Fork is where you go to hike to "Bridge to Nowhere."
@CatchCatchFish11 жыл бұрын
