That being said this is up there for one of the best 197s on the road, just 100% pure balance of being a road car that will annilate a track day and be comfortable on the way home. That's how it should have been built back at the factory to contend with the likes of the Mini GP, Golf Clubsport S and so on but I guess that's what the Trophy R is for, still its a seriously clean 197 with all the rights bits on it 🤟

Bit late to this video but that's interesting about the coilovers. I changed my r27's to b14's and hated them, wished I had got the AST or gaz instead from the start. I found them less harsh than the normal cup suspension but like you say, a lot of roll in the corners. I haven't driven the car in 5 years and I'm only just starting to fix it up for next years trackdays and some racing

LOL ive had that too withmy old 182 Clio , surprised a few guys in their M3s that i was keeping up on the A roads but yeah on a motorway the German cars have longer gear ratios so pull away, Clios are more a track car made for taking corners fast

I'd love to have that car as my daily driver! Btw that R26 engine boosted to 270 bhp will run forever. Without forging. I run one for over 150.000 miles without any issues. Only if you go beyond 270 things start to get pricey.

They do use 250 engines. But they’re less common to come up for sale (well they were) and they are still prone to ringland/ loss of compression. So forging an R26 engine is just as cost effective and means you have a 0 mile engine by comparison!

Nope you can not do this power for n/a at all in any Clio Renaultsport, you’ll have to go supercharger route to keep an n/a feel but it costs more than the r26 Meg swap

Awesome car, and a great video. But I find the F4RT's rather boring in comparison to the F4R, the F4R feels more raw and alive. Sounds better than the F4RT aswell. Great video none the less and a lovely car.

Charlie Belton the joys of different cams/ inlets, I’ve had both, very differ t cars to drive. The 197 has much more mid range and response than the 182 turbo did. I actually prefer the sound of the megane exhaust. It’s very distinctive!
